Firming Stumpy Legs

Is there a way to make my legs look longer? They look very stumpy. I was wondering whether really firming them up would help?

I'm under 5 foot. BMI 22 but this looks more on me. My thighs are very squishy and short and any weight is here. I do martial arts 2 a week and run once but they completely lack tone. I wonder if making them leaner would help.

Any ideas?

More running will help. I have short fat legs (proportionately, anyway), but they look far longer and leaner than they did before I got into serious running.

I'll up my running. My legs are just so stumpy and squishy.

There's two main aspects to how your body looks, muscle and fat. Your body puts fat where it likes, and this varies between different people, in your case this is on your legs- this can only be affected by a calorie deficit, in eating fewer calories than you use. You can't do anything to "spot reduce" fat in any particular area. You can put muscle on your legs but they won't really reduce in size, but just wobble less as there's something more sturdy there! I am similar, 5 foot 3 and bmi of 23, nearly 24- I think it's a harsh measure on smaller women! I have always had big thighs and bum. I weight train, do yoga, cycle as well as run, so I don't really know what's done them good but they have a better shape to them and they don't wobble as much now. Weights are a good idea as that's the best way to put on muscle- running doesn't really do this as quickly.
