I hope it's ok starting a new thread. I found the last one so encouraging and didn't want it to stop!!

Also, have to share I've just done W6R3 - my first 25 min run. Wasn't sure I was going to make it to the end, but kept moving (as Jo Whiley told me to) and did it!!

How are others getting on?

@NCTDN apparently the average time for a beginner to do 5k is 38 mins (I very much doubt I'd do it in that tbh!) so I wouldn't feel too much pressure in the name C25K. It was such a mental block for so long thinking "I can't possibly run for 30 mins solid!" now I know I can do that (and to those who just said they can;t imagine it, I remember being in w2 and thinking there's no way I will get to 5 mins never mind 30! It's amazing how it creeps up on you, weeks 5 and 6 are the turning point I think) I know I can get to 5k. Not sure whether to just try adding a couple of minutes each week until I get to 40 and see how far I can run, or whether to try and increase distance instead.

Well done @notheragain4 🎉

Hi all, I've just started, did my week 1 run 2 this morning. Wouldn't say I'm loving it yet but not hating it either. I turn 50 i 8 months time and I want to be fabulous for that, so that's the goal I'm working towards.
Sounds like a great idea @Dozycuntlaters Good luck!!

LunaNorth · 31/07/2020 16:46

W6R3 today! 25 minutes and it was hot.

But I did it!

thisenglishlife · 31/07/2020 18:08

W6R3 today! 25 minutes and it was hot.
Well done.
I was supposed to run today, but did it yesterday to avoid the hotter weather.

PrincessWatermelon · 31/07/2020 20:29

Hurrah and hurray to @notheragain4 on completion. What an achievement. I would suggest adding more time and seeing how far you go. Give it time.

Well done also to anyone who made it out today. It was defo a hot one. I was a rest day today and v grateful. However, considering the huge kebab and bucket of wine I've just consumed, not sure how tomorrow morning's run will be!

So glad I did my run yesterday, today would not have been fun so definite respect to those who did!

Congrats notheragain4, so good to hear people completing!

I think there was a version of C25k based on distance which did build up to 5k in the end, but people found the time based version worked better.

DD and I are going for W6R1 this morning. I feel like it'll be easy after the 20 minutes we did on Thursday! I don't feel motivated this morning at all but I figure it's just 30 minutes out of 48 hours of my life.

StillDumDeDumming · 01/08/2020 08:33

Morning! W4R1. Felt good to be running just that little bit longer. And blimey!! To all of you that ran yesterday!

Stopthehop · 01/08/2020 08:40

I've been for my first run since my disastrous 5k last week. My hips and calves were hurting for a few days then Dp was working crazy hours so this was my first chance. I've been missing it. I did just over 30 minutes, had to stop a few times because my hips were hurting but a lot better than my last run. I feel a bit lost now I've graduated don't really know what I'm doing.

Sexnotgender · 01/08/2020 08:58

Meant to do W9R1 today but been awake since about 4 with a teething toddler so will maybe go later! Right now I’m going to mainline some coffee.

I worried about that, but found this.

For graduates

Scruffyoak · 01/08/2020 11:39

Started week 3 run 1 today.

witchofthenorth · 01/08/2020 11:46

w1r3 today and I couldn't do it 😭. However, I did walk 6k instead just couldnt run. Managed 2 of the 8 and actually thought I was going to pass out. BUT not going to beat myself up too much, will repeat week 1 and still chuffed I did the walk. Found a good 120bpm album that keeps me at a nice steady walking pace that keeps my heart rate up, so today wasn't a complete loss.

Murmurur · 01/08/2020 12:28

Ooh congrats to graduates and @Sexnotgender - is this our first C25k baby I wonder?!

@witchofthenorth well done. That's a really substantial walk with running in there too. One of my motivations to run is actually that I find it less tiring than a long walk! It all counts. Try W1 again or even just do brisk walks for a couple of weeks. The walking IS a really important part of the whole thing. They trick you into thinking of the walks as rests to start with, but secretly it is all training you up to that week 5 20 minute run!

I've been ill this week so prob need to step back a run or 2 in week 8. A bit frustrating so close to the end but I'm pretty happy with running 28 mins even at my snail pace!

Stopthehop · 01/08/2020 12:30

Thanks @LunaNorth that looks just what I need.

Murmurur · 01/08/2020 12:35

Oh and anyone who is embarrassed about their slowness, watch this

OceanPacific · 01/08/2020 12:54

@Sexnotgender what happy news!! Congratulations.

Am in Greece now. It's early morning runs or not at all as it is so hot. Hilly too. Eek.

CeciledeVolanges · 01/08/2020 16:48

Congratulations @Sexnotgender!

I did week 9 run 1 today, my first 30 minutes and it unexpectedly took me all the way up the hill near me. I was barely advancing at some points and the 25 seconds after I got to the top and still had to run were extraordinarily unpleasant but I did it! It was originally going to be my goal AFTER finishing to run up this hill (it’s a beast) but I am extremely pleased with myself for managing it today. I was breathing so hard at the top that a woman stopped and said “well done”!

TeamEponine · 01/08/2020 17:52

W7R1 today, and it was tough. I think the heat didn’t help.

I’ve realised that I like running best early in the morning. I went out at 6am earlier in the week, and it was so lovely and crisp. Cool and quiet!

ILoveAnOwl · 01/08/2020 18:09

I've finished it!!! Had one run left about 3 weeks ago and left my headphones and arm band thing at my Mum's. She posted it and it got lost. But it turned up and finally got the last run completed today. Distance wise I'm still nearer 4k than 5k, but I'm actually fine with that for now.

Stopthehop · 01/08/2020 18:10

Congratulations @Sexnotgender.

Sexnotgender · 01/08/2020 19:45

Thank you everyone for the congratulations!

I tried to do W9R1 this evening and failed. In my defence it wasn’t my fault. I tried to take my dog with me as I thought she’d enjoy it. Unfortunately she stopped dead and refused to move every time she spotted a squirrel, or a bird, or a leaf😏

Twilbury · 02/08/2020 09:08

Well done @ILoveAnOwl You must be so pleased. Especially having to wait .

I have been out and done wk6 r1
It is still hard work but I always feel I can do it if that makes sense ?
Good luck to everyone getting out today.

MirandaWest · 02/08/2020 10:54

About to do week 7 run 1. Had two days off from my last run - hope my legs remember what to do!

MirandaWest · 02/08/2020 12:15

They remembered 😊 was better than the same run for week 6 run 3 which is good
