I hope it's ok starting a new thread. I found the last one so encouraging and didn't want it to stop!!

Also, have to share I've just done W6R3 - my first 25 min run. Wasn't sure I was going to make it to the end, but kept moving (as Jo Whiley told me to) and did it!!

How are others getting on?

@Twilbury. Thank you. I shall keep the faith. Good luck 💪🏻

mumto2unicorns · 29/07/2020 13:19

@toomanypillows I find every run a struggle but the program works. Even though I want to give up as soon as I start I keep going. I have noticed that it is now more a head thing with me, my breathing is fine and I can keep going.

thisenglishlife · 29/07/2020 13:45

Anyway, just finished week2 run3 and am going to start week 3 on Friday. Does it genuinely get easier?
I did the W3R1 yesterday and it's OK as you do two 90 second runs and two 3 minute runs - so not lots of reps of the 3 minute runs.

toomanypillows · 29/07/2020 13:52

@mumto2unicorns and @thisenglishlife thank you!
I shall report back on Friday 😁😬

mizu · 29/07/2020 14:09

toomanypillows def no gazelle here.

I'm fairly slim though I haven't run since school so since 16!!! Now 47 and have never done much exercise. Walk a lot and fair weather cycle and a bit of yoga here and there but that has been it.

Don't want to lose weight but want to feel stronger so started couch to 5K a few weeks ago and it's bizarre..... It's actually working, meaning in the 1st week I struggled to do a minute of running and now, in the 6th week, I am doing a 10 min run, 5 min walk and 10 min run ShockShock

It is not easy though and I find myself desperate for that ting ting, slow down and walk Grin

My question to others is: is it normal to dread it and look forward to it in equal measure?? Grin

mizu · 29/07/2020 14:11

PS I haven't even told anyone - apart from two DDs - that I'm even doing it as I feared at the beginning that I wouldn't make it!

toomanypillows · 29/07/2020 16:20

@mizu that is very reassuring
Also, although you're further ahead than me, that's exactly how I feel: desperate for the walk and a weird combination of elation and horror at the thought of it.
My sister runs quite regularly - between 5 and 10k a few times a week, and she said she still feels like that, so I'm under no illusion that I'll ever learn to love it. I just want to be able to do it 😁

OceanPacific · 29/07/2020 16:44

@mizu we are at the same point I think. It's incredible to be running for these times. Love your stealth running. Have your family seriously not noticed?

notaflyingmonkey · 29/07/2020 17:32

Middle aged hefferlump here. Did a 20 minute 'run' this morning for W5R3, and am bloody amazed that I managed it. Trust me, if I can do it, anyone can, given I was in tears during W1.

Family deffo not supportive, and think I am making a fool out of myself. DH pretends it's not happening, or suggests a gentle bike ride instead (I don't have a bike). Fuck em I say. I am doing this for myself, and if I can't do a run or even a whole a week, I'll just repeat it.

mizu · 29/07/2020 18:18

toomanypillows - my sister runs a lot too** Grin I do my runs earlyish and have one tomorrow. Again, thinking about it with the same mix of wanting to do it and yes, horror!!!

oceanpacific - stealth running GrinGrinmy DH works shifts so is either long gone or still asleep. And I just haven't mentioned it to anyone else. I have a little daydream of announcing over Xmas dinner that oh yeh I've been running for 6 months and it's no biggie Wink

StripyHorse · 29/07/2020 19:06

I've just stumbled across this. Glad I have found other newbies. DH occasionally runs and has been nagging me for ages to run with him but I have resisted because I was a bit embarrassed at how crap I would be. Just did W2 R2 with the DCs and DH. I am strangely looking forward to actually being able to run for a proper length of time. DD2 (age 10) is NOT happy about doing this.

witchofthenorth · 29/07/2020 19:17

Thanks guys ☺️ @notaflyingmonkey I think I'll deffo take your view. Fuck em. I'll do this with or without their support. Although I did get a well done mum from my oldest DS (17). Hearing myself up for tomorrow's run, bought myself a decent pair of earbuds for it. If I manage tomorrow, my next treat is an industrial strength sports bra 😂

shouldisay · 29/07/2020 19:18

Gearing **

witchofthenorth · 29/07/2020 19:19

Name change fail 🤦‍♀️

This would be awesome
OceanPacific · 30/07/2020 06:20

Heading out in ten minutes to start week 6. I'd normally do the first three runs inside on a treadmill and then repeat the week outside but it's such a beautiful morning I want to be out in it.

I hate MapMyRun - I wear a Fitbit so that tracks it for me which is good. I'm slow as anything though so the distances aren't worth getting excited about but that will come once my endurance builds up.

OceanPacific · 30/07/2020 06:22

@notaflyingmonkey I'm sorry your family aren't being supportive - I think that's really unfair as you are doing so well. Good luck with week 6 - we are at the same point.

Sexnotgender · 30/07/2020 06:33

@notaflyingmonkey I’m sorry your family are being shit! Ignore them.

StillDumDeDumming · 30/07/2020 07:23

@notaflyingmonkey that’s really crap! My family have seen me go From fat to fit and back again. And they’re nothing but supportive. My mum at 75 is fitter than me and she loves what I’m doing. I’ve just been for week three run three. Felt quite a bit better.

Thinking about it on my run I saw a young couple running together. He was quite a bit fitter than her, they must have been doing c25k but on all the walking intervals they held hands and it was so lovely.

DivisionBelles · 30/07/2020 08:16

Just got back from my repeat W3R2. Bloody hell it was hot, even at 7am. No way could I have gone any later.

@notaflyingmonkey Sorry your family are not supporting you. I'm a bit fat too and like you am doing this for me and my overall well-being, particularly given my recent health scare. Go out, get fit and prove them wrong!

Twilbury · 30/07/2020 08:29

I am supposed to be doing wk5 r3 but I have a hangover and I think a run might actually kill me!

Or does anyone think it will make the pain go away ? Was a fun night but bloody hell I am too old to feel like this!!

MirandaWest · 30/07/2020 08:38

I have a day off and have not got out of bed yet Blush.

This will not get week 6 run 3 done.

I did do a lot of walking yesterday so hoping my legs don’t moan at me too much Grin.

Is currently raining which isn’t my favourite running weather - maybe by the time I get up it will have stopped...

Scruffyoak · 30/07/2020 08:44

Hi all. I am week 2 run 3 today but have weight training and work later too.

mizu · 30/07/2020 09:06

Just finished week 6 day 2 10 run 3 walk 10 run. It IS hot out there. Managed it but found the last few minutes tough, I can't imagine doing it without that break in the middle.

Doing that with a hangover ShockShock twilbury not sure you should.

Bumped into my next door neighbour coming out in her car, you haven't seen me, I said Grin

NCTDN · 30/07/2020 09:23

I've lost all motivation Sad repeated week 7 but got a horrible blister and trying to sum up the motivation to get out today. It's been 5 days since the last run though.
