Walking Trainers / Trail Shoes

Does anyone have any recommendations?

I'm finding that my walking boots are too heavy and hot in summer months and am also thinking about running a little of the Yorkshire 3 Peaks (baby steps) !

Thanks in advance xx

I got some Salomon goretex ones from sport pursuit - I think they are these ones but in a different colour www.sportpursuit.com/catalog/product/view/id/1874996 - a really great brand and waterproof too.

A lot of the walking shoe type trainers (often marketed as "approach shoes" have a very rigid sole similar to walking boots, in fact, many are basically a walking boot but without the ankle support, and will be too rigid to run in. If you want to run I would go for a trail running shoe, of which there are a billion options - some good for hard trails, some good on mud, some for rocks......I figure there is no ideal trail shoe unless you have 8 pairs and change them every half mile! The Brooks Cascadia might be a good option as it's got decent cushioning for a trail running shoe and I seem to recall a lot of hard stoney sort of paths on the 3 peaks route.

I was just going to say Brooks cascadia. I love them.

Thanks for the replies .... the running will be sporadic atm - probably just on the downhills and flat grass 🙄

So I probably am looking for a grippy trainer that is lightweight and comfortable for long walks.

I've looked online and Solomon speedcross GTX look good but there's just too much choice so thought I'd ask what everyone else is wearing.

I couldn’t wear the salomon’s they were too deep when I tried them. Popular shoe among trail runners though. I’ve seen some people complain that they've caused bad blisters. I think they’re quite stiff and need wearing in.
