What’s your running pace per km?

I have improved during lockdown and I think (sadly) it’s because ice not been running with friends and so talking!

My routes are fairly hilly. I average 5.18 a Km. Sometimes a km on the route is as low as 4,47 a km but then on the steep climbs can be 6.5 a km.

But my average usually about 5.18

Length 6km - 12km

My son... 9 years old average 4.40 on a 5k run and arrives home not having broken a sweat!

4 if I am trying 5/5:30 if I’m not!

5 is still a decent pace, around 25 minutes for a 5k

lljkk · 18/05/2020 21:39

Nothing that people boast about, lol.
I get around running most of the way. This is an amazing achievement.

nbee84 · 18/05/2020 21:54

Much slower than any of you 😂 I just had to change my Strava to km to check (as I had it on miles) and my 5k speed is 5:50 and 10k speed is 6:20.

MrsBlondie · 18/05/2020 22:09

About 5.50 - 28/2¥ minute 5k

CatherineCawood · 18/05/2020 22:12

6.50 to 7.15 and perfectly happy with it.

whywhywhydaliah · 18/05/2020 22:14

8:35-8:40. Not bothered. I'm running. My only competition is me.

glasshalfsomething · 18/05/2020 22:15

Exactly the same as @CatherineCawood. Between 6.50 and 7.15, up to 7ishK.

ShowOfHands · 18/05/2020 22:20

4 mins 40 is a good pace for me but if I'm just taking it easy, around 5 minutes. I mix it up though. Start with a comfortable 5.10 pace and then see if I can do each subsequent k faster. Or do one slow, one as fast as possible, one slow etc. It all helps bring the times down.

TeaAndHobnob · 18/05/2020 22:21

Depends on the distance I'm running and whether it is hilly. It varies a lot, between 5 and 7 min/km. I don't worry about what other people run tbh. I tend to get slower in summer because I don't like the heat and struggle in it Blush

PatchworkElmer · 18/05/2020 22:22

5.42-5.55 (ish), depending on route.

ShowOfHands · 18/05/2020 22:23

I run faster in summer. In winter, I get hives and feel itchy and sore all the way round.

Anthilda · 18/05/2020 22:30

6.30 - 7. I've been out of the game for a while. Not bothered about speed atm, Im doing it more for my sanity. Smile

Dozer · 18/05/2020 22:32

Snail running team here!

Indoctro · 18/05/2020 22:51

I don't know Kms but my 5k time is 26 and 10k 54min

I do most runs at a easy pace of 10-11 min miles.

Speed work around 8min miles

Hippopotas · 18/05/2020 22:56

9.15 - 9.30 a km over 5k. I am 9 stone overweight though.

MsMartini · 19/05/2020 18:15

Anything under 7 min/km over 15k is good for me. 53 and not really a runner but got into it recently and am loving doing longer distances, taking it slow and enjoying it. Best 5k was 28 mins.

WillowSummerSloth · 19/05/2020 18:28

Some of you are so speedy! How did you get that fast? My fastest ever 5k was 26mins but it nearly killed me. 30mins (6min/km) is my comfort zone.

Sodamncold · 19/05/2020 19:27

@Hippopotas

Not being patronising but seriously - Good on you. Running is tough enough not being overweight. So you take it to another level.

It depends on the distance. General daily running 5/8/10 kms I'm about 5.15- 5.30 a km. Race pace for a 10km my PR is 50.30 so that's just slightly over 5mins/per km
Half marathon my pr is 1hr 57 so what's that? About 5.30 per km? My fastest km ever was 4.04 (but I couldn't do 21 of those!)

To be honest I don't push myself most of the time, I enjoy running at my comfortable pace and I live in a really hilly area so every run is hilly. I've got quite a few strava segment crowns so I must be comparatively fast but it just isn't in my nature to bust a gut running my absolute fastest all the time. I had an injury last year as well and once you've had a long term issue that's seriously affected your running I think it does make you think twice about continually pushing yourself to be faster. At Christmas I really thought I would never run pain free again and it's really put me off training too hard now I'm finally mended as it took so long and so much physio to put right.

ITonyah · 19/05/2020 21:21

I'm chuffed with anything under 7.15.

TeaAndHobnob · 20/05/2020 12:54

@WillowSummerSloth got to be honest here and say I lost a few kgs and that made a difference, so it motivated me to train harder and I got faster still. If you're carrying a bit of extra timber that will be slowing you down pretty significantly.

YouJustDoYou · 20/05/2020 12:56

8.30, because I jog (bad joints).

TwistyHair · 20/05/2020 12:58

7 something per km. only been running 7 weeks so I’m happy with just being able to run

Gottheteeshirtandlostit · 20/05/2020 12:58

8.30 - another jogger cos of arthritis and general fatness.

mommybunny · 20/05/2020 18:21

I’ve just gotten back into running after a hiatus brought about by working long hours in the City (where I tried to run at lunchtime but it was too difficult). My routes at home are pretty hilly - on flat parts I can usually manage around 6:05-6:15 and I have once or twice smashed 6:00 but if there are any hills in a km I feel good staying under 7:00.

I’d really like to get faster. If I could consistently manage around 5:30 that would be awesome. I’m 53 - is this doable? How do I go about it?
