When do you think gyms will reopen?

Probably been discussed already, and I know none of us know (possibly get a better idea on Sunday).

I'm thinking about spending a bit of time and money on my garage to make it a more workable alternative. Trying to decide if it's worth the investment.

Next year once the winter flu season has passed, treatment is better and more people might be immune. There's no way gyms can have rooms full of people sweating and shedding everywhere.

I do wonder if more gyms might hold static outdoor classes though. I'd probably do that with a mask. Parkrun won't happen for months though.

It's been reported in a couple of papers that gyms will be one of the last things to open - they're saying October.

I'm hoping climbing gyms can open before that though.

I doubt it will be back in the UK until next year, if at all. But apparently Australia is easing social distancing from July, so maybe it will come back there later this year, ditto New Zealand.

And it might be possible to restart in the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.

I used to go to parkrun every week but have discovered the joys of Zwift (cycling, I don't have a treadmill).

If opening gyms means less people on the streets then I'm all for it.

So, quite a while!

I can't see how they'll be able to keep the equipment clean.

UK active have put together a proposal of how gyms and leisure facilities might be able to go forward during all this. This framework will be part of ongoing discussions with the government on how and when to re-open these facilities. When that might be, who knows?

I am with you Mooserp, on the converting the garage thing. I wanted to do it a couple of years ago, but now that I have taken over the dining area of the kitchen with equipment, DH is thinking I may have a point 😁

I am shielding though so I don’t expect to go back soon even if they are allowed to open.
