Walking

Crikey! I've been running everyday because I run everyday anyway but I figured it was the outdoor exercise of choice for lockdown as it burns a lot of calories. Well, just walked to the postbox and it felt all weird, sort of wobbly, stiff and slightly achey!

I suppose you use different muscles but I didn't expect to notice such a change. My DH mentioned something about this the other week when he walked to the shop (he runs every day too), I just assumed it would wear off with a long enough walk.

Well, tomorrow I'm running inside anyway because it is bin day and I would usually run when they are emptied so I think I'll go for a walk later on.

Has anyone else experienced any lockdown decrepitude?

I've been having LOTS of epsom salt baths on the days when I run. Also noticed my knees clicking a bit too. Love the term Lockdown Decrepitude!

Grin yes, 'decrepitude' is a word I have used a bit in recent years! My running is going well but I keep finding bits of me that need attention! Then stop walking for a bit and my body seems to forget how to do it properly! Can't run everywhere, though!

Well, I've done my run indoors today so as not to get in the way of bin collection so it's a walk later on. Let's hope that this time I don't feel like I'm taking a moon walk!

Please explain what is the connection between running, walking and bin day? Are you running inside every day and outside on bin day? Im not sure if youre concerned about a difference between running and walking or between running inside or outdoors? I feel like I've missed something obvious

I know what you mean. I often run but yesterday I did some time on the trampoline instead and it’s obviously a totally different muscle group. Ache so much!

Seconding that I need further details about bin day

veryvery · 08/05/2020 21:14

Empress, TomasinaGrin, I run inside on bin day because I don't want to get in the way of collection (wheely bins all across footpaths etc). I run outside every other day. The connection between that and running and walking is that n lockdown I am choosing my outdoor exercise of choice (only wanting to go out once for exercise). The concern is that after only going out for running I am now crap at walking!

Although when I went out today it was better! Phew!!!!!Grin

Never mind my legs I think my brain needs more exercise!!!Grin
