New to running. Am I doing it right?

I have an I watch and been running around my garden during lockdown. I've done 5k each day for the last 8 days. Really enjoying it and noticing my body has changed but not lost weight. Is this ok to do? Feel like I should have maybe done coach to 5k but I've just done it in one go. I'm focusing on moving more and the jogging/running is enjoyable. Planning on having a rest day tomorrow as my legs feel tight today

How big is your garden? Are you stretching?

It's quite a long garden I think it's 70 metres. It's taking me about 45 minutes jogging, running about. I'm not too bothered if the distance is a bit out, more about the fact that I'm moving for that length of time. It's got to be good right? I did stretch afterwards today but not yesterday. Need to keep that up

ALWAYS stretch. I cannot emphasise that enough.

I was worried about the garden because that's a lot of turns but 70 metres is pretty good. Try to turn different directions (figure of 8 rather than oval).

You don't lose weight so much as change shape. I mean you can lose weight but that's not the point. You'll tone up.
