Anyone recommend a YouTube yoga teacher?

Just that.
Ideally a half hour slot, not hard (with lots of relaxation).
Doesn't have to be live.
Thanks.

Yoga with adriene

Yoga with Adrienne!

RevealTheHiddenBeach · 08/04/2020 22:47

I second Adrienne. She's amazing. Really good 30 day programmes plus specific videos, shitloads for free on YouTube.

KenDodd · 08/04/2020 22:55

Ok, that's brilliant, thank you. I'll look her up.

I really can't stand Adrienne (as a yoga instructor, not as a person, she seems lovely) and I seem to be the only one which makes me sad because I really wanted to enjoy her videos.

I've had many different yoga teachers and I never had a problem understanding them, not even when it was in a language I was still learning. With Adrienne I find she uses non-stop gibberish expressions instead of staying things simply. Like she never says "bend down at the waist", she says something like " melt into your lower self". So I'm constantly having to look at the screen to see what she means rather than just close my eyes, relax and listen.

Also she feels the need to fill any and all silences with non stop talking about random things or giggling. It feels more like an 80s TV aerobics show rather than a peaceful and relaxed session.

My husband loves her videos though and he says you get used to the way she talks. I've tried for months now but still not enjoying it. So I will be excitedly checking this thread for recommendations for someone with a different style.

Another Adriene fan here! Love her style

ritzbiscuits · 08/04/2020 23:03

Another yoga with Adrienne fan.

I also do Body Balance through Les Mills on Demand, a yoga/Pilates/Thai chi mix. I'd say that's faster paced and more fitness style.

I do like yoga with Adriene but I've also recently started going with Yoga with Kassandra. I'm doing her 30 day 10-minute morning yoga challenge at the moment. I find her routines a bit more varied and challenging.

She has some yin yoga stuff you would probably enjoy - yin yoga is great for relaxation :)

@Nixee2231

I don't understand the universal love for yoga with Adriene earlier, I don't like her style of yoga at all. Try Sarah Beth yoga, I don't do much yoga nowadays but I always preferred her teaching method.

I also second Yoga with Kassandra.

Outofdodge · 09/04/2020 07:35

*either not earlier

InfiniteSheldon · 09/04/2020 07:39

I love Adrienne but really struggled with her teaching style at first currently doing Boho Beautiful well currently trying to

PintOfBovril · 09/04/2020 07:42

I absolutely second the Sarah Beth recommendation. She's excellent. I do the 20 full stretch but the 10 minute morning routine is also excellent

glotterbug · 09/04/2020 08:44

Another Sarah Beth fan, I'm a total beginner and feel she has a nice style with good routines (if that's what you call them?). The les mills routines are they free? Or as described as on demand does that mean you pay for them?

LumpySpacedPrincess · 10/04/2020 22:27

Second Sarah Beth yoga, much clearer and less chatty than Adrienne. Also Five Parks yoga is wonderful.

OhioOhioOhio · 10/04/2020 22:33

I wanted to know this too. Thank you.

WickedlyPetite · 10/04/2020 22:46

I've been doing yoga with Adriene but I too am finding it difficult to understand what she's waffling on about and I keep having to come out of the 'pose' to look at the TV to see exactly what she's doing.

She doesn't really explain each move that well and I've found myself looking up some of the yoga positions on google to check I'm doing them right.

I'll be looking at some of these other recommendations tomorrow.
