Long distance runners, looking for road shoes

I wear Asics Gel Fujitrabuco for trail and love them. I need to replace my NB road runners for more cushioned shoes.

I am neutral, and wide footed. Any recs? I know I'll need to try on and I have had my gait analysed before.

I don't run more than about 10k but do tend to road run and love my Brooks Glycerin and Brooks Ghost. Cushioning is great.

I love Brooks Ghost too. Would really recommend those, or Nike Pegasus. I do quite high mileage, and these work for me.

Saucony Triumph is also a good budget option for training, with lots of cushioning.

Saucony Kinvara 10s were on offer recently. One of the online ones, but not wiggle or sports shoes. Seem pretty good for my wide feet, but been full of cold pretty well since I bought them so not had many miles. Recommended by someone with wide feet who is a sub 3 marathon runner though.

Wide but less drop and no ability to add own insoles is the innov8 roadclaw 275. Bit more capable for unexpected grass interludes but were not good for me as my only road shoe when upping mileage in winter.

For more cushioning the Saucony Triumph 17 are fantastic. I wear Hoka Clifton 6 at the mo which are a bit of a marmite brand but they do some models in wide fit now.

I love Kinvaras but they're not a shoe for longer than a half marathon, imo. Especially if you like cushioning.

Runningonempty84 · 16/03/2020 18:06

Agreed, @SexIsAProtectedCharacteristic - Kinvaras are a fairly low drop and aren't particularly cushiones. They're a great shoe, but I'd wear them to race half marathon distance or less, not to regularly train in over long distances.

*cushioned!

Thanks! I ordered Asics Gel Cumulus and if they don't work out I'll definitely give the Saucony Triumph a try.

I loved Brooks Glycerin but always seem to tear through the upper after a couple of months.
