Painful wrists

I’ve just restarted going to gym classes in January after a very long break (like four years). However I’ve started to really suffer with pain in my wrist particularly after bodypump and last night really struggled with bicep curls as it was making my wrist painful.

I gather I need to rest and ice to get rid, but does anyone have any tips of how to avoid this. I think my form is generally good but am a bit out of shape. Are there wrist strength exercises? Any tips gratefully received

You could try using plates in the biceps track rather than the bar. Maybe have to look at technique and use lower weights

Tried using plates and also just plain hand dumbbells but still suffering. I’ve been looking at wrist straps but not entirely sure how they work.

Might be worth speaking to the bodypump teacher? Or a physio to work out if it's just the muscles getting used to the work (I often get sore wrists from yoga if I've had a break, but they quickly adapt), or if it's something else.
