Twice in one day?

Is going to two fitness classes in one day over kill?

I have bootcamp tomorrow evening but think I might squeeze in a class in the morning. Don't want to overdo it though. I have been exercising 8 weeks now and have built up to at least an hour 6 days a week, mostly interval type stuff.

The problem is my knees are pretty sore and I don't want to cause an injury. Ate sore knees normal?

I don't think sore knees are normal. Recovery is just as important as activity. Your body will thank you for proper rest days. If only do two classes in a row if I was injury and pain free

That's pretty much what I was thinking, was hoping someone would say oh sure it's normal push through like with aching muscles.

Ah well a lie in for me and I will have more energy to give at bootcamp.

I have got some cod liver oil and some glucosamine so hopefully they will help.

I agree, it would be fine apart from the fact that your knees are sore. You should build up slowly and be careful not to develop injuries. They can last for ages so really worth doing everything to avoid them and listening to your body when it tells you to hold back. Hope they feel all fine again soon.

I bought new trainers but I don't think they are very good for working out. I don't feel supported and they feel like they might slip off.

Going back to my old trainers and will research properly and buy a new pair.

Sore knees not normal. You might want to look into strength and flexibility exercises for glutes, quads and joint stability.

I do two on a weds, core then pilates. As they are consecutive I count it as one long workout. I probab5 wouldn't do a morning class then start recovery then do an evening one, if you get me x

Grembolina · 04/03/2020 22:35

I did double on Saturday but as they were back to back it didn't seem an issue, it is the fact that these two are 12 hours apart that had me doubting.

I will Google the exercises you mentioned. Thanks.

I probably wouldn't do 2 high intensity classes in a day, but I'd be happy doing something like bootcamp and a yoga or pilates class. Probably.

GodwinsRulebook · 05/03/2020 14:23

Don't overdo it. 8 weeks is a very short time in exercise terms - are the sore knees more than DOMS? Rest and recuperation are important.

You don't want an overuse injury.

GodwinsRulebook · 05/03/2020 14:26

To add: I am very fit & strong. I weightlift once or twice a weeks, do a couple of Pilates clases, & 3-4 ballet classes each week. I have sometimes done a Pump class in the morning and then a 90 minute yoga class late afternoon - in the same day - but not often, as I find I am really a bit too tired after Pump (where the weights are teeny-tiny compared with my barbell stuff, but the reps are high) to really do my best in yoga. About half-way through the hour & a half alI I want to do is sleep!

So I'd say, don't do it.

I do 2 classes 3 days a week e.g. combat then balance, pump then pilates, pump then attack. On one other day I just do 1 class. I dont do any classes on a wednesday or at the weekend

I swim and do yoga on the same day once a week. Difficult to strain yourself swimming though.

DD is 12 and very sporty, does organised sport every day. Between Thursday 6pm to Friday 6pm she does 1h football training (Thur pm), 1h swimming training (Fri am), PE at school and another hour football training (Fri pm). She then plays a league football game on Saturday morning. But she is 12 and is constantly active.

If you have only been exercising 8 weeks then take it slow and if you want todo 2things in 1 day make at least one of them swimming or yoga (but don't push yourself).
