Gym Classes

I have started exercising this year, I signed up to an 8 week boot camp type thing which is pretty much circuits with squats, jumping jacks, crunches, battle ropes type stuff with a bit of boxing thrown in. That was 3 days a week. I have added in a Rave Fit (aerobics) class but its only on once or twice a month.

The next round is only going to be 2 days a week so I want to do some other stuff so that I am exercising 5 days a week.

Are gym classes a good use of my time? I would like to loose fat, build up my bum and get a bit of strength in my upper arms. I know I would probably be better off lifting weights but I don't find it fun and don't have a clue what I am supposed to be doing.

Kettlebell?

Abraid2 · 28/02/2020 10:41

Bodypump is good for weights if you are a newbie. Bodycombat is brilliant for burning off calories. I am always at my lightest the morning after I do it! It's fun as well because the moves are quite quick at times so you have to concentrate hard and it takes your mind off the fact you're exercising hard.

They don't have a kettle bell class.

Classes I could choose from time wise are;

Mon - Burn, Body Attack, X Fit, Body Combat

Tue - Bootcamp - already booked

Wed - Body Pump, Spin, Body Attack, Zumba (This is when the Aerobics class is on once a month)

Thurs - Bootcamp alreasy booked

Friday - Sh-Bam, Spin, JD Bootcamp

Saturday - Burn, Body Pump, Body Combat, Metafit, JD Bootcamp, Abs

Sunday - PT session already booked, could squeeze in a Burn Class

So I am at a loss of what is going to be the best use of my time really.

I went to a trampoling fitness class recently. It was great fun - and hard work. I go to loads of classes and it was by far the most enjoyable.

Grembolina · 28/02/2020 11:20

I like the sound of that. There aren't any local but I will have a google!

I do circuits and HIIT classes at my local gym and feel great after them. The HIIT classes aren't easy but I love that they are pushing me harder than I push myself.

I do combat, balance, pump x 3 and attack

Grembolina · 28/02/2020 23:17

That's what i like about classes. I would never keep going when something feels hard without someone literally forcing me too.

I did body combat and Metafit today. Body combat was a lot of fun and Metafit straight after was intense Grin

I think my fitbit is massively overestimating my calories burnt though. 425 for body combat and 236 for Metafit.

Sounds about right to me tbh

EmmaC78 · 29/02/2020 14:26

Was that for half hour classes? It sounds about right to me too. Maybe slightly over but not massively.

dementedpixie · 29/02/2020 14:36

My combat class is about 50/55 minutes

Grembolina · 29/02/2020 18:47

Body combat was 59 mins and Metafit was 30 mins.

Ah pleased you think it sounds right, I am not eating back my calories but its good to know I am burning them!
