Seeking good sports socks

I find they all get tight after a few months of regular washing - Karrimor, Decathlon the lot. Has anyone found a pair that stays nicely stretched, soft and comfy? I'm not a fan of Hilly - found them tight too, on my bunions!
I have one excellent pair of wool running socks from The Running Bear in Alderley Edge if anyone's interested. They are about 15 years old now. Great for running but a bit hot for indoor classes.

I discovered Balega Hidden Comfort socks and I now won’t wear any others. They’re the bees knees.

I like nearly everything from Decathlon, but not their socks

My preferred brand is Stance

I wonder why I'm absolutely fine to wear any pair of thinish socks.
What could I be tolerating that others find impossible.
