Couch to 5k

Hi everyone Smile

My dd has decided she would very much like to take part in a colour run of 5k in May this year to raise funds for a charity called young hearts organised by a teacher at her school that lost his brother very young to a heart condition.

She is fit and excercises most days but fancied a challenge.

Having approached 40 and needing some help to shift a stone or two and get fit myself I'm looking at the possibility of buddying you with her so we can spur each other on.

I am looking at apps however there are so many to choose from I don't know where to start.

It's a 5k run so I've been looking at couch to 5k apps but could anyone recommend a good one for me to use please?

Thank you guys

Well done for being inspired! There are lots it us here who started on C25K and now love running.
I used the One You app and choose Sanjeev Kohli as my ‘mentor’.

I hadn’t run since school cross country days and have to admit it taking 5 months not 9 weeks but that was down to having to much work. Somehow taking longer made it feel like more of a success.

Good luck!

Most people I know just used the standard NHS one. If you start now, you'll be smashing that 5k in May!

I used the official couch to 5k app and it was great - look in to one for stretches too as as a group we picked up a couple of injuries along the way when the distances got longer and i think stretching before and after might have helped. We never did quite finish it but planning to pick it back up with dc as they are entered for marathon festival and also looking at doing some 5 k park runs

I agree with PP who said the One You apo. I picked Sanjeev Kholi too as my coach.
I'm a few years older than you OP and had never run since school. Probably took about 12 weeks to get to running for 30 minutes and a bit longer to get to 5k as I am sloooow. But I don't care about that, I actually enjoy getting out and doing it!
