Pain in leg - running

Wondered if anyone could shed any light on what the pain in my leg might be. It's on the side of my thigh, feels like an achey pain (if that makes sense). Feels stiff when I start walking but once I'm warmed up I'm ok. Went out for a run and it was niggling at the beginning and then felt ok, however I don't want to keep running on it and make it worse if I should be resting it. Quite new to this running lark and enjoying it so far so don't want to do anything that may cause long term damage.

Sounds like it could be IT band I'll attach a pic. It runs from hip to the side of your knee and causes many runners to have pain more commonly at the side of the knee. Try stretching by crossing that leg in front and stretching towards the opposite side, and use a foam roller - look up IT stretch on YouTube Smile
