Gym Group classes

Been a member for a few years but always stuck to cardio or dabbled with weights with a PT at one point.

Never used their classes.

I'm looking for one of them to build strength/tone, that kind of thing.

I do need to lose some weight but can achieve that via calorie restriction so not looking for a class aimed at weight loss.

So I was wondering if Pilates might be a good choice for shaping up?

It indicates it's a paid class but the website doesn't specify how you make that payment.

Do you take £6 in cash along and hand it over to the session instructor or do they charge the payment card you gave when you sign up?

Anyone know?

Do they have a reception desk at the gym? Maybe you pay there. I like body pump for toning

dementedpixie · 01/01/2020 14:48

Do you pay monthly for the gym? Are classes not included?

brassbrass · 01/01/2020 14:56

I thought all gym group classes were included in the monthly fee

ouch321 · 01/01/2020 15:03

No, not all of them. If you look at the class schedule, on the website, some of them have a pound sign next to them to indicate they are paid classes.

There is no reception desk in my Gym Group gym, just they have a staff office but that's locked most of the time.

Mine has that too but just comes up as £0 when I book it as classes are included in my membership

ouch321 · 01/01/2020 15:13

But wouldn't everyone who was booking a class automatically be a member?
And AFAIK there is just one type of membership.
Otherwise they wouldn't have a login for the website.
Quite puzzled now...

www.thegymgroup.com/why-join-the-gym/ scrolling down gives 2 types of membership which both show free classes. Maybe you can pay as you go without joining the gym

TimeToGetMeBack · 01/01/2020 15:21

Some classes are paid as they bring someone in to do classes, we have paid yoga classes and also had others in the past. Our paid classes are all £3 per class

TimeToGetMeBack · 01/01/2020 15:22

If you have a printed timetable on the wall I your gym it should give you the price of the paid ones

ouch321 · 01/01/2020 15:27

Time

Are you a Gym Group member as well?

Yes, it says £6 on the website - so do you just hand over cash at the start of the class?

I imagine you pay online when booking the class if it's a paid for one

dementedpixie · 01/01/2020 15:30

Have you tried booking it online?

TimeToGetMeBack · 01/01/2020 17:59

Yes I am. Yes pay cash to the instructor. Some also except bank transfer. Enjoy your class Smile

@dementedpixie when you book online or though the app it only holds your space, you can't pay.
