C25K listening equipment

I’m hoping to start C25K soon. I want to use the app where you can listen to music and the voice tells you what to do. Do I just do this from my phone? Do I just carry my phone in my hand or is there something I can use to carry it somehow? What about headphones? I’ve got ear buds but assume they’ll fall out and I need something else? Any suggestions welcomed otherwise I’ll never start....

I use my phone for this, I have a belt to keep it in while I run, or you can get armband cases to pop your phone in. I tend to find they don't stay put though, prefer the belt. (You can just run holding it, or stick it in your bra or a pocket etc, but a proper case is less annoying)

Ear buds might stay in, I'd try a run with the ones you've already got before you buy new ones. If they fall out you can get the buds that have hooks that go round your ear, but I'd think the over ear style headphones would be the most secure. A hat or headband might hold your current ear buds in too

My earbuds are ok. Have a trot around your house and see.
You can get arm bands for your phone but I just carry it.

I just used to run holding my phone.
They can be quite expensive but you might want to think about bone conduction earphones: they look like normal earphones but conduct the music etc through your cheekbone, keeping your ears clear to hear traffic etc.

Michael Johnson 😍 was my coach. It's an excellent programme, hard enough to make you feel you've done a good job but not so hard that you think it's horrendous and never do it again!

I use a running belt bum bag thing to put my phone and single house key in. I use normal headphones. Seem okay to me.

Thanks everyone!

Sorry another question! Do you carry water with you?

I don't carry water with me.

I've never done C25K but I regularly run from parkrun up to marathon distance.
Normal headphones should be fine, I just use the ones that come with my iPhone. If I'm running on the road I wear it in only one ear. I like the idea of bone conduction earphones but I can't justify the cost.
You don't need to carry water. Assuming you're appropriately hydrated at the start and you're in normal health you should easily be able to last an hour without a drink. Carrying a water bottle leaves you unbalanced and over enough miles can lead to injury. When you're enjoying long distance running you can get all kinds of belts and vests and things to carry your special running water bottles, but right now this is hassle and expense you don't need.
Good luck, running is the best. Make sure you have good shoes and sports bra, everything else can wait. Also come to your local parkrun - if you don't want to run straight away you can volunteer and meet a ready made bunch of running friends. If you want to walk it, that's great. I was the tail walker on Christmas Day, we finished in 1 hour 15 minutes. You definitely won't be last so don't worry.
