Groin strain

I've had a groin strain on and off for the past 4 months and it's really getting me down. I've had to cancel all my planned races (nothing major but ones I enjoy training for such as a NY 10km, local spring HM, 10mile trail run last month etc).
I initially did the usual RICE for a few weeks then slowly reintroduced running but had to rein back when it started rumbling again. I've since been going to the gym to do a strength session once or twice a week and added a swim. It's been clear for nearly a month so I was finally thinking it had gone and have added a couple of very gentle 4-5km run/walks this past week with no pain but woke up yesterday and felt the familiar sharp pain whilst walking to the bloody toilet SadAngry

Any suggestions? I had some osteopath/acupuncture sessions when it first happened back in September which really helped but I couldn't afford to keep paying £45 a week on sessions.

Oh no, that sounds so frustrating. Could you see a physio? Hopefully they'd be able to give you ideas on exercises to help strengthen the area, so you wouldn't need too many sessions.
