Hi, are there any disabled people on here whom could share words of wisdom on exercise for a wheelchair user to successfully lose weight. My wrists are so sore and week these days and I feel like they’re getting worse. I was very sporty and active when I was younger. I’m struggling so bad to lose the weight

Sorry to hear you're struggling Flowers

I was obese, to be honest I lost the weight through diet alone. I only started exercising after I'd reached my ideal weight, but everyone is different!

I think sorting out calories, nutrition and portion control is a brilliant starting point for weight loss, finding yummy alternatives to food you like (homemade pizza rather than Domino's, big vegetable stew instead of pasta, cous cous salad instead of sandwiches, porridge or scrambled eggs instead of cereal or toast, nuts instead of crisps as a snack, a square of dark chocolate instead of a bar of Cadburys etc).

Routine helped me too, I started eating three times a day, 8am, 1pm and 6pm. Lots of water in-between. The weight dropped off, and as I said I wasn't doing any exercise whatsoever (I wish I had been!). I still eat to that routine but I eat slightly bigger portions now to maintain my weight.

Hopefully others will post exercise tips :)

I’d love my own fitness trainer haha... basically I can only use one leg for transferring and can’t walk without aids. Upper body fine other than getting fat and weaker because I’m getting fat lol x
