Is it ok to take part in classes like spin and pump at my local gym when pregnant. Prior to being pregnant I was doing this classes x3 a week so it wouldn’t be something my body wasn’t used to. Also in regards to ab work, no crunches but planks are ok is this right? Is there any other advice you could offer please? Currently 12 weeks with 2nd baby. Thankyou Smile

There was a girl at my pump/attack classes that kept going until she was 39 weeks pregnant! For the chest track she put the bench at an angle with 1 riser at 1 end and 3 at the other. She did alternative exercises during the abs track. In attack she did lower impact moves. Speak to the instructor as they should guide you

Not a PT but I worked out (running etc) until 40 weeks with my second. I've been working with a physio and she advised not to do planks at all. Basically she told me to avoid ab exercises that involve crunching, contracting or twisting (which is most of them) but things like lunges and squats are great as long as you have good form.

I'm a PT- no stomach exercises at all,and no starting anything brand new,but if your body is used to things like you said that's ok- I was at a body pump class and went into labour the next day! I did wonder if it was the squatting tho!
