Fitbit vs Treadmill

Could anyone tell me which is more accurate with distance. When my treadmill tells me I've done a mile my Fitbit only records 0.64 mile. I don't hold the bars because I've noticed it doesn't count steps if I do. Amy ideas why it might be happening? Thank you Smile

In this case the treadmill is more accurate. The treadmill belt is a specific length and the treadmill measures how many rotations it does while you are running/walking so is genuinely pretty accurate about distance.

Couldn't tell you why your fitbit isn't recording all of them though. sorry.

@MoonNoodles Thank you for replying. I tried setting my Fitbit to record a treadmill exercise today. It was closer to the treadmills distance but still out by 0.1 of a mile. I've had read on google it may have something to do with stride but who knows Hmm

Would have thought the fitbit stride length needs to change here. The treadmill knows how long the belt is, and therefore how far you have travelled based on how many times it has been round.

@Hotchox Thank you. Would you happen to know how to change the stride length? I wouldn't be bothered usually but I've started doing race at your pace every month and I send my Fitbit miles in as evidence. Feel like I'm being robbed of miles Confused

If you use myfitness pal you can add your exercise in to your fitbit stats
