Right. Got a dilemma here. Would welcome advice.

I did yoga (detox yoga) for about 5 years which was great - 1 x a week but it really toned me etc. Then for approx 2-3 years I did a vinyasa flow class 1 x week, when teacher went to live abroad I did another yoga class there which was dragon yoga etc which I wasn't over-keen on. I'd say I'm intermediate/advanced in yoga.

Last night I did a vinyasa class locally and love it. It fits in with timings due to DC etc and I go with a neighbour who wants to escape DC plus it's only £8 a class.

My other question - I'm signed up with a gym that's on my way home from work - due to DC etc I currently do aqua aerobics classes there 1 or 2 x week. 1 pool I really don't like though. The centre right near where I work - Victoria - doesn't do an aqua aerobics class after work which I would definitely do if they did one.

I want to start running anyway - just need to start.

My question is this - do I cancel gym membership as I don't go enough and don't really have the time and do I just do yoga and start to run? or do I do all 3? Or do I just do yoga and gym but make the effort to go more?

Also starting a boot camp after work to throw that into the mix but 10 sessions groupon deal.

Yoga and running go perfectly together so I would cancel the gym

Sturmundcalm · 02/07/2019 22:08

if you're definitely starting running then i think it's fine to just cancel gym, doesn't sound as though it's really working for you...

Cancel the gym

TheCatThatDanced · 03/07/2019 16:42

Sturmandcalm - the gym would work well for me if I maybe worked nearer where I lived. But I work in Central London so agreed with DH or childcare that I go to gym e.g. 2 x a week. DH not overly happy about that but...

And once I come home and then go to the gym I'd have to drive to the nearest one. the yoga is a 5 minute walk away and park a street away but almost behind my house.

I would cancel the gym (you could always rejoin later). You're barely using it, and it does not work for you.

I would start running, and see how it goes. Running is certainly one of the easier things to fit in to the rest of life,!

Have you run before? If not, or it was ages ago, then I suggested you start off by using C25K app, or Zombies, Run! to get you started in a way that builds you up strongly. Make sure you have a good bra and adequate trainers.

AuntieStella - gym membership being cancelled this week. Thinking of joining a David Lloyd club - DH belongs to some swanky gym in the city so he's ok...

I have tried to run a few years ago. I have a good sports bra and also good running trainers. These were for when I did a 5K run for Breast Cancer but 2 years ago.

Have you thought about a lighter gym membership, something like Move GB? I pay approx £8 per week, and can do I think up to 7 sessions at Move GB sites, I have loads around me, including my favourite yoga teacher. I know the pricing has changed a bit since I joined, but I've been really happy, and gives me the opportunity to try different things near me. Plus, I can pause membership for holidays or whatever. It works really well for me, lots of my friends are on it too.
