Les mills on demand

Has anyone tried this for exercising at home?

I used to LOVE Les mills classes at the gym and would do loads. But 3 children under 3 and a lack of ££ means going to the gym is temporarily not an option. So was wondering about trying to get a free trial and giving this a go.

Would love to hear from anyone who has tried it. Thanks in advance !

I tried it and did pump and combat which was ok. I really wanted attack though and they didn't do that one (don't know if they do now)
It was hard to be motivated to be honest and i cheated a bit so I cancelled it.

BA is on there now.

I usually go to classes but use on demand if I'm working away. Cant fault it.

Pretty sure you can do a 10 day free trial.

littlepooch · 24/06/2019 15:40

Good to hear BA is on there as I love that one. It looks like all their programmes are covered. I guess some of it I wouldn't be able to do because I don't have the kit.

I'm hoping I would stay motivated once i see my fitness start to get back up again but I suppose that's always the risk with at home exercising.

My only alternative is to go running but I'd need someone to watch my youngest.

Hmmm maybe I'll give the trial a go.

I love it I use the spin rpm/trip//sprint and body combat. Occasionally body combat. Though they stopped the app on Samsung smart TVS and I can't seem to get it on there now. Have it on my phone/tablet tho. Also you tube has some great free workouts if you can't afford it.

littlepooch · 24/06/2019 16:20

Thanks Loubylou, good to hear a positive review. Ive seen some of the YouTube stuff and it looks good but I thought the Les mills might be better for me as I'm familiar with the general format etc. Not sure how it will work with a tablet or phone or if it will be hard to follow but I don't have a laptop or a bigger screen to follow it on!
It works out much cheaper than any gym round here or individual classes.

Yeah that's why I use it, did used to sync phone n tv up via a special wire but that's stopped working nowConfused
I prop my phone on my handlebars ( really need to buy a tablet holder!) just wish they would sort an app again for Samsung TVs!
If you look on the app it tells you different ways you can actually use the app, you may have some other way of watching it.

Yes, love it! My partner works nights so its handy when I can't get to my usual classes.
Yes there is a 10 day free trial to try before you buy.
I mirror my phone through my Google chromecast to the tv

littlepooch · 24/06/2019 20:28

Fantastic! I'm going to give the trial a go. I will report back :)

Sadly I'm the least techy person and don't have anything like chrome cast etc so will just have to use my phone/tablet for now. Will see if DH can somehow get it up on the TV for me when he's home at the weekend.

I'm really looking forward to it, have missed my classes so much!

I've got it and absolutely love it. Pre-kids I used to do a lot of the classes in the gym (combat, pump, step, balance and attack). Now I have a 3 and 5 year old and have moved to the sticks it's v different. My husband often works late a couple of nights midweek so it's great to put on once the kids are in bed. They have all the classes on there and you can pick the length of the session - I did combat tonight and could do a 20, 30, 45 or 55 min class. Even squeezing in a 20 min session a few times a week makes me feel really good.

Equipment wise I bought a cheap barbell set from QVC for about £30 for pump, a £10 step from eBay and already have a yoga mat. The spin classes you'll need a bike (obvs) but loads to do without needing anything. They have new releases frequently and plans you can follow on their website.

The GRIT (HITT) classes I found really hard as I'm so uncoordinated and can't keep up with them so prefer to do shorter versions of their normal classes.

Def try the 10 day trial and see how it works for you. It might be worth skipping through a few of the classes so you can view a lot of the moves and presenting styles without having to do 10 classes in that time! You can download onto your iPad etc to do it offline as well.

(I am a recent convert so maybe ask me again in a few months to see how well I've kept it up!!)

I loved it. Only unsubscribed because I was able to go to the gym more. Absolutely excellent value IMO.

Wolfiefan · 24/06/2019 21:58

Daft question alert. Is it a library of stuff or current routines only? Love body combat but some of the more recent ones don’t suit me.

TeaAndTrifle · 24/06/2019 22:05

It's a library of stuff. I've just checked and the latest BC is 78 but you can go back to 61. The latest pump is 108 and you can go back to 89. Same for the others too, if that helps! x

littlepooch · 24/06/2019 22:42

Thank you @TeaAndTrifle, my DH often works away so that's my plan too - get a quick workout in when he's not here in the evenings or during the day when baby is asleep. I could even do a more cardio based one in the day and balance in the evening if I had the time.

Definitely going to do the trial - I've got nothing to lose and will make a note in my diary to cancel if it doesn't work out!

Hi ladies! I just read that you can now get Les Mills on Demand for free for 21 days as part of a partnership with Sport England! It is part of the This Girl Can campaign and an amazing way to try it. I love the yoga and HIIT classes!

You can get the trial at partners.lesmillsondemand.com/thisgirlcan/

FarmersWife2018 · 10/11/2019 22:53

Hi! Just wondering how you have been getting on with the Les Mills at home work outs? I’m considering trying but currently unsure, I go spinning twice a week but doesn’t seem to be helping much for my weight loss post baby, which I’m hoping to tackle for the new year!
