Will cellulite ever go away?!

I've let myself go a bit in the last few years, I used to be quite sporty and in shape, but now I've put on about 2 stone, and weigh 80kgs.

I have quite bad cellulite on my thighs and bum. After some cursory research it says that cellulite is always there. I'm horrified!

Have I done irreparable damage through just 2 years of laziness? Does anyone have any experience in getting rid of cellulite or is google right in that once you have it, you have it forever?!

Cellulite is just fat. That's all. Used to be considered very sexy.

If you eat an extremely "clean" diet it will

Last year I had really bad cellulite, the majority of it disappeared with a combination of going to the gym 3/4 times a week, cutting down on carbs/eating cleaner and body brushing. I've lapsed lately and it has come back but I am starting the routine again so fingers crossed it will go soon. I read some of it is down to genetics etc so i don't think it will ever go completely and i'm a size 8/10 but I'll try my best

Yes - mine improves when I'm slimmer, more active and eat better. I still have it but much less!

Mine has pretty much disappeared since starting running regularly and cleaning up my diet. I drink a lot of water too. If I have a week away where I'm eating lots of carbs and drinking too much wine it comes back with a vengeance.

Wasn't it shown that body brushing was the most effective way to reduce it? I'm sure I read that on here.

Sounds like total bollux but I'll bite.
How does a "clean" diet remove your cellulite?

chimmy · 30/06/2019 19:02

I would say lose weight, eat healthily but also build some muscle in your legs and it will diminish, i’ve had it badly in the last and really minimised it, now pregnant and it’s back but confident I can get rid again!

Interesting to hear it might not be permanent. it said online once the fat cells are there, they are there forever!
I did used to dry body brush actually, for some reason now my skin is quite sensitive so I can only do it in the shower.

I've been drinking black coffee, green tea, and blasting myself at the end of a shower with cold water to improve circulation (it's surprisingly addictive Confused). Also exercising, I can see some reduction above my knees. It'll probably be all on my arse forever though at this rate.

Does anyone have any body brush recommendations?

Although it is often said that it doesn’t go away, once you have it, mine did.

It could have just been good luck and it would have gone away in any case but I did a combination of very healthy clean diet, yoga, body brushing, seaweed baths and hot seaweed wrap massage.

I've heard brushing your body/ legs down each day is supposed to help minimise cellulite

Bluerussian · 05/07/2019 03:34

It does go. More than twenty years ago I was overweight. I changed my eating habits and exercised more - moderately, no gym. I was very slim within a few months and the cellulite I'd had on my legs had disappeared.
