Running and stomach issues

I have been a runner for a few years now and should be experienced enough to know my body! Lately I have been getting sickness or nausea and stomach/bowel cramping while running making it quite uncomfortable, as sometimes I need to break off to go to the loo or stop entirely. Any tips please?

I don't eat at least 2h before running, and my diet has not changed particularly.

I don't have any tips but I do have the same problem so keeping watch for any replies! Not so much the nausea but the other issues have caused much embarrassment.

Take immodium! That will stop it.

Stumpedasatree · 17/06/2019 23:15

@TeaKettleBell, but I run most days and don't want to rely on taking Immodium every time I hope!

Hummm
It’s a tough one.
Have a cup of coffee and make sure you ‘go’ at least half an houe before your run? Coffee tends to speed things along.

If this is a recent change in your normal bowel functions, do see your GP. Always worth getting checked out .

Are you taking any extra supplements?
I started magnesium and notice they cause your symptoms. But do get checked out.

Stumpedasatree · 18/06/2019 10:42

@junebirthdaygirl, yes, I have been taking Magnesium! Shall have a break from it and see if it helps. I hadn't realised there was a connection.
