Post Exercise Red Face - tips?

Whenisitover · 15/05/2019 07:40

Does anyone have any tips for dealing with a post exercise beetroot red face?

Doesn't matter how fit I get myself - after any run I have a bright red sweaty face for 30-60mins
I shower pretty much straight away but then have a hot sweaty face to still contend with.
It's a PITA - anyone have any wonder tips?
(Or just join my pity party)

I get the same thing, it's embarrassing as my face goes the same colour as my hair Blush I actually put foundation on yesterday before going to the gym which surprisingly did disguise the red face.

I have the same! I have a particularly shocking pink running top and my face completely matches it if I run for more than 30 minutes, or in any kind of heat. No advice really, sorry. I leave off putting makeup on until it’s calmed down a bit as otherwise I’ll get spots.Hmm

Watching with interest as I am also afflicted! Tried applying a very expensive Clinique anti redness primer afterwards but no joy.

Same! My mum is too. I've even had people do double takes at me. I used to cycle to work but stopped as my face was bright red for hours and it was a fairly leisurely ride!

I'm not sure there is much i can do-wear a mask?! Grin

I get this too. Nothing works so I’ve given up worrying about it.

That’s not much help is it? Grin

If you shower straight away then maybe you aren't letting your body cool down enough post exercise? I resemble someone who has been out in the rain at the end of most workouts but have to walk/jog/stagger half a mile home again so by the time i get there I've cooled down a bit. I then wait another half hour while I have breakfast before showering and my face is usually back to normal.

If I shower too quickly after a bike ride I find my face stays sweaty for a good hour and its just because I haven't cooled down!

Whenisitover · 15/05/2019 16:24

@Blobby10 - I work from home mostly so run in my "lunch break" so will try delaying my shower and see how it goes

Thanks everyone - at least I know I'm not alone in having this!

I go red as a homing beacon and it takes about an hour for the colour to subside fully. Makes no difference if I have a shower at once or wait.

I get a beetroot face, but the skin above my top lip stays a normal colour - beetroot face with a white moustache Grin

I agree with Blobby

Don't shower until you have cooled down a bit, and definitely not before you have stopped sweating.

Do run the insides of your wrists under a cold tap (surprisingly cooling, lot of blood close to the surface there)

If you cannot wait, or remain red regardless, there isn't much that can be done. It's just your unlucky bodily quirk.

You can avoid being red and shiny by using a mattifying serum (face powder might be OK, but might clump if you're still glowing)? Avon Magix is up to the task, but some people find the consistency rather heavy.

Embrace the beetroot Grin

Wrists in cool water is a good one, I use it in hot weather.

I'm often skin-cold so tend to start the shower cooler then gradually warm it up. It could work in reverse, so start comfortably warm and cool it down.

I look like I've been through a tumble dryer on hot cycle after exercising (am always amazed by women who leave the same class still perfectly coiffured with immaculate make up 😁)
I need to shower and go straight away and find a tepid / cool shower helps to reduce the post exercise redness / sweating.

Me too!!! I’ve given up wearing my pink top, I look insane.

Worse is I think, that right up my to my neck and chin I stay normal, and just my face goes purple, like I’ve exposed it to chemical radiation (maybe I’m too obsessed with Chernobyl)
