Hip in agony after gentle run

Inspired by the marathon yesterday I dusted off my running kit and started on week 1 of c25k. I've run before so knew to take it gently.

Half way round my hip started to ache and by the time I got home I was in agony. I had to crawl up the stairs!

Anyone got a clue what I've done to myself? There's no way I can run until it's better so might have to do a brisk walk instead.

I had this. Does it feel like it is where your leg goes into your socket? Google hip flexers and have a read as it may be that. There are some exercises you can do to strengthen them.

I seem to have got mine sorted. Not had a problem recently. I presume the muscles have got stronger.

I think I perhaps should have properly warmed up first the but yes that's how it feels. It's like a burning in my side.

I've been doing hip rotations which is helping a bit.
