Good walking app

I'm just starting walking every day to try to lose weight. I installed MapmyWalk but it doesn't seem to tell me how far I walked. I walked for 38 minutes today and it still said 0.00km. I can't seem to find anywhere on it to rectify this.

Has anybody else used it or can recommend a good free easy to use walking app?

the charity miles app donates money to charity while you walk and tells you how many miles you have done (once you have signed in, look along the bottom of your phone. there is an icon that looks like a person. click on that, and scroll to the bottom where it has your activity log.

Despite the name, you can log walks on Runkeeper. Also on Strava.

Both have paid options, but the free version will do what you ask

You can also set MapMyRun to walk. Again free version will be fine.

If you're using an iPhone, Health tracks steps and distance (somewhat roughly, but good enough). "Pedometer" (free I think) shows them in a clearer view.

Pretty sure a lot of modern Androids have the same always-on step tracking, certainly DPs Pixel does.
