5 to 8 miles, possible?

I'm doing an 8 mile run on Sunday, and I'm a bit behind my training schedule....

I've just done 5 miles comfortably in 45 minutes, will it be possible to do the 8 miles on Sunday? I've no injuries at the moment but I did walk briefly, twice during the 5 mile run.

Should I try to squeeze in another training run before Sunday or leave it now?

Thanks!

5 miles in 45 mins is a great time. The difference in stamina between 5 miles and 8 is not that great. At a gentle pace, possibly with some walking breaks, you should find it quite straightforwards.

Go into it fresh and rested and you should have a decent race Smile

Agreed with Smarmy - I went from fairly comfortable with 5k to doing a 10k. I wasn't quick, 75 mins! But it wasn't that much harder, I just paced it down a bit and carried on and on.

Yes just slow down and you can keep going. If it was me I’d do a 3m run Thursday then nothing till Sunday so legs fresh. Good luck hope it goes ok.

Easy! You run at a good pace. Slow down slightly and just enjoy it!
