Walking rescue dogs. Win win.

Does anyone else do this ?
I find walking really boring, but took up walking dogs at my local animal shelter a few years back and have never looked back.
Dogs love it, I love it , and there is a great incentive to exercise as I know the dogs are waiting for me !

I don't, but it sounds fantastic!

I guess shelters want a regular commitment?

This is so nice, I’d love to do this! I have put my name down for volunteering at a shelter but they never seem to have vacancies. I thought about walking dogs for the elderly but I’m not sure who to contact.

All shelters are different. Some ask for regular commitment but the one I volunteer at lets me turn up anytime, any day, between 10 and 3. So look around.
There is a misconception that rescue dogs are somehow aggressive, but they are there due to no fault of their own (owner has died, divorce etc) and many are so sad when they come in. Any that show aggression to humans are euthanased as they cannot risk re homing.
They are well looked after, but long for that human contact that staff don't have time to give.
I had some sadness in my life when I first started and I can honestly say that walking these lovely dogs helped me so much to get over it.

Yes I also looked at Cinnamon Trust. Great thing to do too.
The reason I decided on shelter animals was I felt their need was much greater as they have no human company at all 24/7 .
Whatever you decide, hope you enjoy it !
