Laparoscopy/half marathon

God. I’ve waited so long for this operation, they will be doing it next week.
I signed up to half and raised money for charity months ago. It’s the end of May. I’ve trained, I’m looking forward to it.

My question is has anyone had a lap and then run a half roughly 7 weeks later?? Am I totally stupid to think that I can still do it and not let anyone down, including myself.

Hey, I had an appendectomy keyhole (laparoscopy) and was back on my feet in a week, working two jobs. By no means running a half marathon but I imagine if you have trained on the lead up to it you will be very fit and will just need to ease back into it in time for the marathon.

Hope all goes well for you.

I've had two. First one I was in agony for a week but was ok after that. Second one I was fine the next day. You'll probably need to not train for a week, or at least have that expectation and see how you feel. Take mintec tablets.

I had a cyst on my ovary removed and I was surprised at how rough I felt. I’ve also had enough bit of keyhole surgery (on a joint) and it still hurts 3 months later.

Thankyou. I’m having at least one large (10cm) cyst removed plus any endo they can do. So I’m prepared to be off any activity for a couple of weeks....

7 days post cyst/ovary removal via laparoscopy-cannot imagine walking for 30 mins let alone half marathon 😭
