Hi all,

Over the past 18 months to 2 years I have managed to lose over 10 stones going down to around 9 st 7lbs, as you can imagine I do still have issues with loose skin but I am looking to start an exercise programme to help with toning and tightening but don’t really know where to start.

I am quite active and do have a gym membership but mainly focus on cardio which is ok but I’m not really looking to lose any more weight, my aim is to maintain and start to tone up as much as possible. I would be greatful for advice that could help me.

Thanks

That is amazing.
Sometimes only plastic surgery can get rid of the skin, is my understanding. (sorry)

You need to start lifting weights 3 or 4 times per week. That will help build muscle mass and fill out the loose skin so it looks tightened/toned. Loads of plans out there, just Google something beginner level to get you started

Astounding work! I'm incredibly impressed with what you've done.

First off, go chat to the trainers at the gym, exercise advice is what they're for and they're usually university trained with a good amount of knowledge.

Unfortunately a lot of the time for such a severe weight loss lljkk is right and surgical intervention may be the most effective answer. Talk to your doctor about it, I've absolutely no idea what's available on the NHS.

Bloody hell. That's amazing! No advice but huge congratulations.

Thanks so much everyone, I will try and speak to a PT at the gym, I just feel a bit intimidated by them with their perfect bods and fit muscles!

I know I might need surgery at some point but it’s a really big operation (I would need pretty much everything tightening) so want to do as much as I can with exercise.

Don't be intimidated - you've come through a much much harder path than they have, I bet! Lead off with "So, I lost half my bodyweight through exercise, and I need some advice..." and watch their eyes bulge.

No advice sorry (need to lose 5 stones!) but just wanted to say - RESULT! What an achievement! That is amazing. How did you do it??

daisybrambles · 19/02/2019 19:42

I just decided I wanted to be healthier, I cut out carbs for quite a long time and then slowly reintroduced them in smaller quantities as I got nearer to where I wanted to be and I stopped eating sugary snacks, my cravings just got better then, I used to drink lots of Diet Coke and although it doesn’t have calories I think it still really encourages you to crave sweet things.

Probably wouldn’t work for everyone but seems to have done it for me-good luck xc

Well done! That's a fantastic achievement. I agree with the advice to get some help with weights and see how far you get with that before even considering surgery.
