Birmingham Half?

Anyone doing the Brum half marathon tomorrow?

I must admit, I'm a bit nervous! This is my fourth half so you'd think I'd be ok by now.

The last one I did was atrocious- I just mentally gave up about mile 3 and didn't want to run another step. Did it in 3 hours which is 40 mins longer than my PB. Didn't run for 6 months afterwards.

Since then, I got my running mojo back. I've been training sensibly and feel pretty excited & ready.

Any tips to help me if I get all negative again?! Weather's looking good and I really want to enjoy a half again!!

How did it go?

I've done it a couple of times in previous years, but the timing just didn't work for me this year.

Didn't see this before the run but I was there yesterday...

How did you get on?

The weather was a little unpleasant to start but I enjoyed the run overall - this year's start was better but I still hate the climb up to Moor Street before the finish... that really hurts

Well, I did it!! It was very wet!! That hill up to Moor St seemed to go on forever but then the end came by v quickly I thought.

Really enjoyed it. Felt much better than the last half. Did it in 2 hrs 40 - my first 10km was just over an hour (v pleased about that!!) but the second 10k was tough.

Had to do it in fits & starts as my feet kept going completely numb. Had to walk to get blood flow back then run, then walk, then run...

Would do it again!! How did you get on Hamster?

Sorry ... just catching up ...

The hill at Moor St nearly finished me off... luckily I was running with DH so I had to keep going and not walk...

Finished in 1:58:56 with a terrible finish line photo ... I look as bad as I felt...
