Couch to Marathon. Is anyone with me?

So my sleep deprived and on mat leave former self entered the London marathon Ballot thinking I didn't have a hope in hell of getting a place.

Well I've just found out I have a place! Shock

Feeling a mixture of thrilled and terrified but I guess that's a fairly normal reaction.

My last 'proper run' was a half marathon about 2 years ago. I've done the odd 5k since bubs came along but no consistent running efforts. I'm a lot heavier than I want to be and feel massively unfit.

Is it possible to do a 'couch to marathon' in approx 6 months?

And is anyone else in a similar position? I'm going to need all the help I can get!!!

Good luck to everyone else who's just had a ballot win!

It is possible to do, you should start now! I'm sure you can find training programs online. Beginner marathon plans usually assume a certain level of running and for London will start in January, so you could look at them and then work on getting yourself to that level. The key first is to start running consistently, at least 3 days a week, and also think about strength training or cross training, if you don't already do these. Marathon training can be hard and tiring, do if you have good core strength etc you can lower your risk of injury and cope better. Congratulations on getting in and good luck!
