Arm bands and hydration backpacks....

Hi! I’ve recently signed up for a half marathon next year. I currently run with my Fitbit and also like to have my phone in an arm band to track distance/time etc. The band I bought started off fine, but the velcro doesn’t stick really anymore, so I’m wondering if anyone can recommend a really good one? Or even a belt if they don’t jiggle about... It’s an iPhone 7plus, so it might be the weight of it.

I was also thinking of getting a hydration backpack for long runs and for on the day. It’ll also be handy to keep my car key and little bits in as it a different city. I’m not fussed on recommendations for that, however I do wonder, if I were to put my phone in the backpack (instead of a band), would it accurately track my run/rimes etc? Or would the motion be all wrong?

I think the phone would still track you in a hydration vest. Flip belts are good, comfy and don't slip. I used to have an armband I got off Amazon but use a running watch to track now.

The phone does track in a bag, no problem there. I do that. PITA to get to the phone if you wanted to check your numbers though!

I go for the flip belt now, I'm getting back into running and I'm doing too short a distance to worry about carrying fluid (couch to 5k ... again). You get water backpacks with phone flipouts on the belt now though, if you want an excuse to hit a running gear shop :D

Get a running vest! I've got one and it's brilliant - the brand is Ultimate Direction (it's a product used by many mountain runners across europe) Very comfy, lightweight, plenty of room/pockets for a phone/snacks, a space for a jumper/map, and holds for walking poles, and it comes with light-weight water bottles (or, if you prefer, you can put a camelbak in the bag).

Wow thanks for the tip, the belt and vest sound good. My phone is mainly for safety and music, I struggle sometimes without music. It’s just handy that it tracks you as well, so a bag would be fine as I use Bluetooth headphones. I’ll check the options out! Thank you for the replies Smile

This is the belt I use, no wobblies. It gets an iPhone 6sPlus so same size as yours - it only fits in one side and not the other.

I’ve got a spi belt and a flip belt, both fit my iPhone X in fine and stay in place. I prefer the look of the spi belt more though, and it’s cheaper!

Thankyou.
