Paris marathon-ers! Help needed!

A group of 4 of us are running Paris marathon together. We’d like to travel over Friday evening so we can mooch on the Saturday, go to expo etc. Come home Monday so we’ve got a bit of recovery time.

Can anyone recommend a nice hotel in the start / finish area or near a metro? We are on a bit of a budget but don’t want to end up in a grotty hotel where we don’t rest properly.

Hello! Sorry for late response, there is an old thread on MN about the Paris marathon so worth digging out, I’ve stayed both at hotel princess Caroline (small rooms but will do the trick as next to th arc, might not be too quiet though given it’s location) and hotel ampere (20 mins from start- I actually stayed here before the marathon when I did it, v quiet, nice area super markets near by etc ....)

It’s a brilliant marathon - the last quarter through the park is gruelling and you will need mental strength to make up for the lack of spectators. I died after hitting the wall at 21 (they have a blow up wall ha ha!) but it was a fab and very well organised event.
