Please help. I have to take a beep test in 8 weeks, its over 20m and I have to reach level 6.1. I ran a bit 3 years ago and now realise how seriously unfit i am. I tried the test this morning and got to 3.6 😣 I am 43 years old and 10kgs over weight. I am following a keto woe and feel ok training, its just my breathing that is killing me. I need to know what training will get me where I need to be, any and all help gratefully received. Willing to try anything to reach my goal.

What exercise do you currently do in a typical week?

Or are you starting again after time away, and if so was injury the reason?

Feel your pain having to do the bleep test am in my forties too and it's a nightmare. Do you have access to a treadmill at all? When I trained for it years ago the gym instructor said to do it via a treadmill if you have access to one. Start doing the walk for 2 minutes and then speed up the treadmill every 2-3 minutes until you get to the speed you need to pass the test as the bleep test speeds up between bleeps. The other way is to try and do it by running between lamposts or on a field with two cones - there are websites where you can download the bleep test so you can practice it. Best of luck Ive always hated it so I feel your pain. Most places will let you have another go in a few weeks time if you fail it though.

I started back on the treadmill one week ago with no exercise for a while (years 😥) Never had any injuries, just feeling it in my knees to the point they were burning so i stopped running when I was 40. I was able to do 8km no problem, but now realise i had crappy trainers which probably caused the pain. I have a treadmill but didnt know if i should mix it up with other exercises. Its a full on fitness test but the beep test is the only thing that scares me.
