Waterproof GPS tracker for paddle boarding DH?

So DH is a strong swimmer, kayaker & (as of 4 weeks ago) an avid paddle boarder. He has a tendancy to disappear of over the horizon & leave me worried about his location & safety (plus wondering how long I'll be stuck on the beach with 2x DD).

We have a waterproof phone pouch (courtesy of the RNLI) but I have to constantly nag him to take it with him. So can anyone recommend a wristband GPS tracker that's also waterproof & doesn't require Bluetooth (as that means it needs the phone to go with him)? I seem to be able to find GPS or waterproof but not both - the fitness tracker industry seems to think fitness only requires tracking on land. Thanks

Huawei band 2 pro, under £100 too which is great for the spec

That came up on my Amazon choices & looked fab but the Q&As made it seem like it required a phone / Bluetooth to track properly? Do you use yours away from your phone? Ideally his phone would be on the shore...

If he gets a Garmin, you can track him with this app

buy.garmin.com/en-GB/GB/p/94687 which says you can invite others to track. Now, I don't use it, so don't know how well it works when at a distance from phone.

Have you considered btw getting him one of the very waterproof phone cases (the sort sold for divers) so he can take a phone?

The Huawei band 2 pro has its own gps internally it only needs the bluetooth to connect to get the information off the band and on to the app. Sometimes I only connect mine once or twice a day.

Garmin or polar are about the only others that do a model that is waterproof and has internal gps. I looked at this for ages before buying mine.
