GP monitoring high BP and advised weight lose and exercise.I went to the Gym where I swim at twice a week and they need a letter from GP.The surgery are asking what I want in the letter. Anyone know what is usual for a GP to write as a quick Google suggests GP,s can be unwilling sometimes so I want to suggest something reasonable. I know I will have to pay for the letter. Thanks

Your BP must be sky high for the gym to ask for a letter?

Not sky high but not great either. Friend also told same and theirs was on the edge of normal range.

I would ask the gym exactly what they need it to include. Otherwise you could pay for a letter that the gym still aren't happy with.

Absurd. You're (presumably) an adult with capacity to make a decision about wanting to exercise. Tell them to bog off - it's a complete waste of resources to be getting GPs to do this sort of nonsense.

It'll be for insurance purposes at the gym. If op has a pre diagnosed condition that could be worsened in their premises then they need to know about it
