Couch 2 5k

Hi, I was thinking of trying this. I have 2 stone to lose, having already lost 2 and a half stone over 6 months. I have tried jogging before but always really struggled but I've heard good things about couch 2 5k. One concern I have is how to time it. Is there a specific timer available specifically for couch 2 5k? How do others keep track of the time? Thank you.

Hi,
I started this last week and it's brilliant. I've got an app on my phone that tells you exactly what to do and when, it's the free nhs app. I am super unfit and have 3 stone to lose, i am enjoying doing it and am not finding it impossible. Good luck!

I'm just about to go into week three of this. I'm using the One You Couch to 5k app. It's free and run by Public Health England along with the BBC. You play the app on your phone whilst you run, it tells you what do do when, setting out the timings for you. It's really easy to use, which is great as I go running at 6am and need all the help I can get early in the morning!

Thank you all for your replies. I will definitely have a look at the aps. I know this is a silly question but I've never used head phones or ear phones with my smart phone. I have a Samsung Galaxy. Do I need to buy headphones/earphones specifically for this type of phone or are there generic ones I can buy? Also, which are better for jogging, earphones or headphones? I'm thinking headphones as earphones might fall out! Thank you.

I've got an iPhone and just generic headphones. I've got ones that go around your ear and they haven't fallen out yet. My only disaster was when I had my phone in my bra because I wasn't sure how to carry it and my boob restarted the run... so now I make sure I have the screen facing out!!!

I use the in ear ones that came with my phone, don't think i run fast enough for them to fall out Grin I carry my phone in a small bum bag I picked up from tk maxx, didn't want to pay for a fancy on arm holder.

I've just done it using the Zenlabs C25k app with my phone in an armband and no ear buds - I didn't really like the idea of running with them in. It doesn't have much commentary as you go along - just when you change between walk/run so I don't feel it's too much of a public nuisance!
