I need to do some core/ab work

So I'm running post c25k and rowing. Loving it all. Started in October last year. But I've been reading and it seems that ab/core work is key to improving both of these.

I've got Jillian Michaels 6 week 6 pack (cough, still in the wrapper). Is that any good? Where should I start with core/ab work?

With my PT, it tends to be interspersed with other exercises (wood chops, jackknifes on ball etc), and then grouped together at the end (crunches of all descriptions, planks, mountain climbers etc). Fitness Blender does lots of short abs workouts that you could tag on to other workouts.

You won't get a 6 pack unless you go on a tiny amount of calories per day, anything that suggests that having a 6 pack being akin to health and physical fitness is an idiot. Do you do any strength training? It's very different to cardio.

Thanks. I'm not fussed about the six pack as such. I assume it contains sit-up type exercises. I don't do any strength training at the moment. I have an old 4 or 5kg medicine ball. Whatever I do I need to do at home.

Nothing has sorted my core out like yoga. I know it’s supposed to be gentle exercise and all that, but it works like nothing else I’ve tried.
