Running - maximum time in HM

I’m embarrassed to ask this, but is there a maximum time for running a half marathon? What happens to the stragglers at the back? Do they reopen the roads and start clearing up if there are people still going? How do you find out for a specific race?
Sorry - got to ask someone!!
Thanks

Most runs have a cut off time - they will be race specific, so just check out the website for the run your planning. Happy running OP

Where there's a cut off it's usually about three hours. I've done some where there's a bus that goes around and scoops people who won't finish in time, and others where they reopen the roads but you are welcome to carry on to the end. And some with no cut off at all e.g. my local one, which is quite small and doesn't involve any road closures.

Good luck!

Broom bus... some kind of vehicle to sweep up stragglers.
it's good natured... there was a broom bus on a 5mile run I did (no I wasn't swept up. ;-) ).
Some HMs don't have a time limit, but it's a good idea. Means they are looking out for you.
