Pre and Post Workout Eating/Fuel Help!

I'm currently 3 Months into gym membership. I now go nearly every other day and do a mix of all sorts - spin, PT with the staff, weights, les mills etc.

I'm feeling great but sometimes I feel like I hit a wall during a class or workout and feel very tired after.

I'm too scared to ask as everyone is wandering around with pink drinks, shakes after etc. I feel like a total novice.

Any basic rules I should be following?

No. Other than, try a few things out & see what works for you.

I like to train first thing in the morning, without eating first. I have breakfast after, if at home then eggs on toast or if going to work, will take a protein shake with me. I train a lot and am vegetarian so aim for protein with every meal.

If I am going to an evening class then I need to eat something before, maybe a banana or a piece of toast. That will be at least a couple of hours before class for me, otherwise I feel sick. Then have my tea afterwards, no need for supplements.

You probably need at least an hour to digest before going to the gym, but other than that it's whatever your body can handle and that you can have available. If you have specific aims then there are specific ways of eating but it doesn't sound like you do, you're just after fuelling for a decent workout, so it's very simple...
