Short Hamstrings

I've been getting into exercising daily after getting a Fitbit because I needed something that would push me.

I'm starting to experience discomfort in my hamstrings. I have short hamstrings.

Ive been walking and doing yoga for the past week and they are so tight I've got a big walk planned tomorrow and swimming on Friday and I don't want to stop as my motivation to exercise is the best it's ever been.

Does anyone have any advice?

As an ex athlete ( failed) I'd say that there may be two issues; you may have stiff/ tight hamstrings, as I did , and had confirmed by physios; none of my siblings could get anywhere near our toes, yet all were quite sporty in various ways. So I do accept that the " short hamstring" issue (if it is that) is a real one. Which should not give you serious trouble. The short term issue may be just stiffness in tendons and ligaments that are saying "hang on , this is a bit new". Personally I'd advise against struggling along through that; you could cause longer term problems. And anyway, the pain could kill your enthusiasm. The swimming ought to be a good idea, but maybe give the long walk a miss, and try to fit in a few short ones? Good luck!
