Is c25k suitable for some size 18/20?

I am in my late 40's 5ft 5. & weigh 16st 7lbs. I am a size 18/20.
I am considering doing c25k but I am worried that it would be too much for someone of my size!
Do you think that it would be too much pressure on my poor knees if I started to try & run?
I am starting a healthy eating regime to reduce my bulk & just wanted to know if it would be better for me to start c25k once I had lost some weight?

I started it a few times, but only really got going properly once I just decided that I would commit to doing it religiously, and moving on to the next week even if I thought “I can’t do That!”

I could... with a bit of effort... and to start with I couldn’t run for 30 seconds.

Good luck, it really does work, and I am totally not a natural runner 😀

How are you doing OP? Let us know when your next run is and we can cheer you on.

Thank you everyone, your support really is so very much appreciated.

I did my third run of the week yesterday in the rain, which I actually quite liked. It helped cool me down as I was running. That being said, I still look like a very sweaty beetroot when I finish!!

I am so proud of myself for actually finishing week one 👍I know people say, if I can do it anyone can, but that really is the case. I just wanted people who are my size know that it really is possible. The truth is that without all of your help & advice, I probably wouldn't have started yet.

Day one of week two is on Monday, so watch this space Smile

Fab thread. I was going to wait until I'd lost another couple of stone but I think I'm going to get running again!

Go for it Grim, I am on run one of week 3 tomorrow & can honestly say that I am loving it. Don't get me wrong, it ain't pretty & I find it REALLLLLLY difficult, but the sense of achievement is incredible. Do it, do it, do it 👍👍

How did it go bumps? Hope wk2 started well?

SocksRock · 07/05/2018 23:43

Oops, wk3! You can do it...

bumpsadaisy11 · 11/05/2018 08:33

Hi Socks,

Dare I say it, but I am still really enjoying it!! Managed run 1 & 2 of week 3, but I have hurt my Achilles' tendon, so I am resting it for a few days.

I know that wearing unsuitable trainers have caused it, but unfortunately I am not in a position to do anything about it at the moment. I have invested in some supportive arch inserts for my trainers, so hopefully this will help.

I will be starting week 3 again, once I am back to full fitness.

Watch this space...... I will be back!! 👍👍

Decathlon have good cheap trainers, by the way.
