How to slim and tone thighs and bum?

Will the cross trainer and walking on the treadmill on a steep incline help to tone and slim my thighs and bum? I can't do squats or lunges due to a knee injury. I am doing the leg press and other weighted machines at the gym also. TIA

Rowing machine
Fast hiking across steep inclines - steeper the better
Rock climbing

You can’t lose fat in certain places all you can do is lower your overall body fat.

“Tone” isn’t a thing. It’s just a word they use because women don’t want to read “build muscle”. You can do that which will lift your arse and make it more rounded and not saggy? I’m which case you want the stair master/elliptical/treadmill on an incline.

Hip thrusts if you can do them? Weighted even better.
