Haha Grin

ADayAlwaysHasToEnd · 25/10/2018 22:42

I did W4 runs 1 and 2 tonight and feel really accomplished. I'm actually excited to do run 3 tomorrow 😊

RunningWhileTheWorldBurns · 26/10/2018 00:34

Yay well done adayhastoend I love that feeling

I did W3R3 tonight and it was better than I thought. Getting a bit fed up with my route but there is a hill that kills me and I am determined to conquer it. When I started a few weeks ago I was knackered just walking up it but I managed to run to the top tonight 💪 nearly passed out afterwards right enough

DomesticAnarchist · 27/10/2018 11:12

Just did W5R3 and my first 20 min run! Pretty pleased with myself! Sarah Millican's little celebrations and positive snippets are really good aren't they?!

Kudos for your hill-battle @RunningWhileTheWorldBurns. My plan is to do the times first, and then work on speed & hills later!

ThereGoesTheAlarm · 27/10/2018 13:13

I love Sarah Millicans commentary. Kind of hoped she’d be funnier though

Zazu44 · 27/10/2018 16:34

Any one about to start C25k?

FATEdestiny · 27/10/2018 18:00

I think all of the coaches on the NHS program fellow the same script, more-or-less. I used Laura on the podcasts and a few months later my DH used Micheal Johnson on the app. We found that the "patter" was almost word for word identical, apart from the odd manner of celebrating or congratulating.

Yey @DomesticAnarchist - W5R3 is the best run of them all. Well done - be proud of yourself.

FATEdestiny · 27/10/2018 18:01

We have new people starting all the time on this thread @Zazu44. Have you started yet or just thinking about it?

Zazu44 · 27/10/2018 18:32

Starting in the morning! 😳

ThereGoesTheAlarm · 27/10/2018 18:47

Zazu it’s the best thing you’ll ever do. I wish I’d done it years ago. It has honestly changed my life.

I was the girl who deliberately forgot her PE kit most weeks.

DomesticAnarchist · 27/10/2018 19:01

Thanks @FATEdestiny, I am unreasonably pleased with myself! My little achievement has kept popping back into my head all day! It's nice to ruminate on something positive for a change!

Yeah @Zazu44! It's amazing! I can't believe I've just run for 20 minutes continuously, after struggling with every week so far! Good luck for tomorrow!

Zazu44 · 27/10/2018 19:15

Thanks everyone will let you know how it goes. Do you always have the same days every week? Seriously unfit but hopefully in 8 weeks not so much

ThereGoesTheAlarm · 27/10/2018 20:28

I was the very definition of “couch” and now I can run for ten mins straight and I’m only on week 4. I’ve never been able to do that before. You will be surprised at how quickly your stamina improves

I just do alternate nights most of the time. Occasionally I’ll do two in a row if I know I can’t get out the following night.

Zazu44 · 27/10/2018 20:50

Thanks Theregoesthealarm you fill me with hope!

5SecondsFromWilding · 27/10/2018 21:55

W3R3 completed this afternoon. It was hard but not as hard as R2, for which I suspect I had my new running shoes too tight Blush

When I thought I was going to die, I took your advice FATE and told myself out loud that I could still speak.

I'd expected running to make me ache more. I've not actually ached since my first run. Other than my feet on Wednesday but I suspect that was user error!

Jellycatspyjamas · 28/10/2018 09:00

I’ve just started @zazu44, did W1R2 this morning and did actually run for some of it. I’m very overweight and very unfit so just walking at a pace for 30 mins without stopping is a serious effort. Today I ran for 4 of the reps which I’m really pleased with.

I’ll repeat week 1 next week by which time I’m hoping to do all the running bits.

ThereGoesTheAlarm · 28/10/2018 12:07

That’s fab jellycat keep us posted

DomesticAnarchist · 28/10/2018 12:57

Well done @Jellycatspyjamas, that's a great idea to repeat the week. Keep going!

openupmyeagereyes · 28/10/2018 17:21

Well done Jellycatspyjamas, that’s great!

Just did w1r3 (6 runs in since I switched apps). I used the Fitbit for distance and it said 2.4 miles for the whole 30 mins. That’s not bad given only 8 mins of running.

I’m a bit apprehensive about increasing the running sections by 50% on Tuesday. I’ll see how it goes.

Good luck to anyone running this evening.

DomesticAnarchist · 28/10/2018 17:36

Well done @openupmyeagereyes! You'll manage the increase. So far I've found that every week I feel like I've only just made it and there's no way I can do the next one, but every time I have! Trust the programme! And as @FATEdestiny says, if you struggle, just slow down. (I didn't think it was possible to go any slower, but it really is! 😂)

ThereGoesTheAlarm · 28/10/2018 19:09

I’m going out shortly for W4R2. I am so cold though 😣 what are you all wearing these days?

sleepymouse · 28/10/2018 21:10

I finished W6R3 this morning, it was so cold here I think that made my breathing harder so I didn't really enjoy the run, although I did finish it and felt good afterwards. I think mentally I'm going to miss the walking intervals, I'm hoping that I'll start to enjoy the runs more soon. Will also do the local parkrun in a few weeks when kids weekend activities allow me the time.

DomesticAnarchist · 28/10/2018 21:55

Yesterday morning it was around 6° and I wore a vest, long sleeve top and a hoody, and then hat and gloves! I get really cold, and I get earache if my ears get cold. I did warm up nicely though! (And had horrific sweaty hat hair!)

ThereGoesTheAlarm · 29/10/2018 01:19

I am going to invest in a hat and gloves. Honestly it was so cold tonight I almost turned back during the warm up walk. I was ok once I started to run but my hands were totally numb when I got home.

I hate the warm up walk. Not sure why.

FATEdestiny · 29/10/2018 07:32

I get sweaty very quickly running, so go for removable layers.

My very best buy is stand-alone sleeves. They are just covers which go from shoulder to wrist and were just £4 from decathlon. It means I can have an extra layer without actually wearing an extra layer, if you see what I mean.

When it's cold I wear full or 3/4 running leggings, vest, sleeves, a zip up running top and gloves.

The zip up top is only worn during warm up and cool down walk, tied around waist when running. Sleeves and gloves usually last about 10-15 minutes into my Run before I pull them off and clip to my running belt.

I also have a headband sweatband. It serves several purposes - keeps my headphones in, stops sweat running into my eyes/ears and also stops my ears from freezing in the wind.
