Hello.

I started C25K last week. I was the very definition of couch. Did my first night of week 2 last night. I’m really enjoying it and I can feel it getting easier but I feel like I should be skinny already haha. Baby weight (and wine/chocolate weight) to lose before my sister gets married next year so this is my mission. Glad I’ve found somewhere to chat about it. I run under the cover of darkness and I haven’t told anyone I’m doing it!

PhannyMcNee · 17/10/2018 19:23

W5R1done with a bit extra cos I got lost in the dark in a new housing estate Grin

RunningWhileTheWorldBurns · 17/10/2018 19:53

I’m currently lying in DS1s bed beside her, trying to muster the motivating to go out and do W2R2

PhannyMcNee · 17/10/2018 20:54

Go do it - you’ll feel better afterwards! Defies all logic but it’s true Shock

RunningWhileTheWorldBurns · 17/10/2018 20:59

Done it! Really really hard tonight. I think it was colder here tonight my hands were numb and I couldn’t get my breath

DomesticAnarchist · 18/10/2018 06:17

Thanks @eatyourveg and @PhannyMcNee.

The washing machine is still under warranty and the instructions say specifically NO SHOES, so I soaked them in a bucket of bleachy water. I think the only think they really missed out on is the spin. They're hung in the airing cupboard now stuffed with newspaper.

I think they were beyond bicarb, but I'll bear that in mind for maintenance!

Well done @RunningWhileTheWorldBurns. I think it might be time to dig out some gloves 🧤. I used to run with a woolly hat too, maybe it's time for that too?!

PetraDelphiki · 18/10/2018 18:31

I need to convince dog that he wants to do w7r1 again tomorrow...not sure I want to either. He was disgusted by the 22 minute run and the rest of 5k in the rain yesterday....

PhannyMcNee · 18/10/2018 20:45

I always wish I had a dog to make me go out when I do t want to but reading your post Petra it wouldn’t necessarily work!

I was naughty and did W5R2 tonight rather than wait a day - I was feeling good and it fitted in well with other stuff. Managed both 8 minute runs ok but yet another new route meant I had to climb a steep hill during the rest walk. I think I recovered from that in the 2nd run rather than the other way round Shock

RunningWhileTheWorldBurns · 19/10/2018 00:35

I’ve lost a few pounds this week 😊 that’s motivation to keep on going! I ran Tuesday and Wednesday and I must admit I felt it when I came back last night. Had night off tonight so W2R3 tomorrow.

Why do some of you repeat runs, just out of interest?

PetraDelphiki · 19/10/2018 06:49

I’m repeating because I finished without being anywhere near 5k, but I get bored if I do the same thing each time so I’m mixing it up with some of the later/harder runs...may not be the official way but it works for me!

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 19/10/2018 13:50

Hello, hello. Sorry I didn’t return the next day, i’ve only just got round to W1R1. Mostly because of storm Darren or whatever he was called. It absolutely battered us for days on end. Anyway, W1R1 done with nothing exciting to report. It was fine.

Well done to everyone on the journey!

RunningWhileTheWorldBurns · 19/10/2018 18:20

I’m doing W2R3 tonight. If my children go to bed as they are supposed to

Alicatz66 · 20/10/2018 12:00

Did my first 5k parkrun today ! Super slow but I ran ( jogged) it all

PhannyMcNee · 20/10/2018 12:28

Well done Alicatz, how was it? I can to get out of bed early enough to get to one - it’s a 30 minute drive away and it feels too far for a Saturday morning!!

I am dressed to go out for W5R3 but I’m dithering - I have a blocked nose and an a bit throaty, could be the start of a cold? Should I go anyway or should I leave it a day and see what happens?

Alicatz66 · 20/10/2018 13:25

It was ok PhannyMcNee. I felt really comfortable doing the first 2k .. but when I hit 4 I wanted to cry !.. just kept jogging .. my partner runs and he can do it on 22 minutes but he jogged with me ! My parkrun is only 10 minutes away and all flat so not too bad !

5SecondsFromWilding · 20/10/2018 17:10

W2R3 finished! I really didn't have the motivation today but am so glad I went out now. I also worked up the nerve to run onto the main road that runs through my village rather than turn around like I normally do.

The jump to 3mins next week worries me, though I know that overall running time is the same. My legs hurt slightly after this run, which is odd considering they didn't for the other 2 identical runs this week.

DomesticAnarchist · 20/10/2018 18:06

I missed my run yesterday and really wasn't feeling it today. I did go out though, and did W4R2 but tried a new route and ended up doing the first 5 min run up a horrible hill. 😫

Well done for getting out @5SecondsFromWilding, and trying a new route!

I was worried about going to 3 mins but that was ok. And then I was worried about going to 5 mins but that was ok on my group run. Just less so today!

Maybe the endorphins will kick in in a bit... when I can breathe again...

ADayAlwaysHasToEnd · 20/10/2018 18:18

Can i join I've just done W3R2 and I'm finding that fine however I'm really worried about running for 5 minutes in W4

RunningWhileTheWorldBurns · 20/10/2018 19:47

Genuinely missing it tonight but I’ve just eaten a bucket of popcorn

RunningWhileTheWorldBurns · 21/10/2018 15:45

Anyone heading out tonight? I’m doing W3R1 tonight. I ate crap and had some wine last night so I’m not expecting it to be an easy one 😕

DomesticAnarchist · 21/10/2018 17:02

I'm thinking about heading out for W4R3 tonight, @RunningWhileTheWorldBurns

I buggered up my routine by missing Friday's run and ran yesterday instead. But I've got the club run on Tuesday (W5R1) and I think I'll benefit from a rest day tomorrow.

I don't know if the club will stick to the PHE C25K and do 3x 5 min runs or if they'll do the 8 min ones or even the dreaded 20mins continuous on W5R3. It's starting to look like proper running.

PhannyMcNee · 21/10/2018 17:11

I’m contemplating W5R3 tonight. It’s that or Dr Who Blush

DomesticAnarchist · 21/10/2018 18:18

I did it. Did a flatter route so avoided the asthma-geddon I had yesterday but still reached a new peak HR of 180-something.

I am not enjoying this! I just want to be able to run a bit without feeling like I'm going to die! I was hoping for more than 5 mins, but 🤷‍♀️!

DomesticAnarchist · 21/10/2018 18:19

@PhannyMcNee W5R3 is where it starts getting a bit serious, isn't it?! Go on, record DrWho and reward yourself with it when you get back.

Good luck!

RunningWhileTheWorldBurns · 21/10/2018 20:48

I ran tonight and really can’t believe the results. I managed over eight minutes straight I accidentally ran right through the warm down run. I’m so excited. This is a big deal for me i have never ever been fit!
