I'm a complete beginnen, starting tomorrow, anyone want to join me?
The goal is fitness, although weight loss would be an added bonus.
I've a young family so time and motivation are my biggest obstacles but am determined.

Really interesting reading through these last few posts. In a previous life, I could run 5k in just over 30 minutes. That was 10 years ago and I was 3 stone lighter. I am relieved to read that I'm not actually aiming for 5k by the end of the program. I'm about to start week 2 tomorrow so even running for half an hour without stopping seems a very distant goal right now! But I am feeling more motivated than I have for a long time, so my determination will have to carry me through when the going gets tough.

W8r1 today - there must have been earthquakes overnight because I’m sure there were more hills on my route than usual!!!

FATEdestiny · 28/09/2018 21:31

Great progress PetraDelphiki, you're so close to running for 30 minutes now! Hills are good practice generally. I always avoid hills if I can though!

WhenCanISleepAgain · 29/09/2018 10:23

I joined this thread a week ago but have only just now run W1D1. Feels good to have made a start!

fishfingersandketchup · 29/09/2018 11:23

Hi WhenCanISleepAgain I am a newbie too, well I've done it before but not for ages and ages and I'm a lot heavier these daysSad I have just completed Week 2 run 2. Good to have some support on this thread! I agree that it feels good to actually be doing something.

WhenCanISleepAgain · 29/09/2018 13:29

Thank you @fishfingersandketchup and good work on almost finishing week 2! I think we may be in a similar place. I’ve done C25K before too but have never started this far back and this overweight. I found C25K very effective before in motivating me to be healthier and so it is a good feeling to get started again, even if I had to drag myself out the door this morning!

fishfingersandketchup · 29/09/2018 16:45

Thanks WhenCanISleepAgain good to find someone else in the same boat! Good luck as you work through the program.

PhannyMcNee · 29/09/2018 17:41

Afternoon - has another week of nonsense so ended up doing W2R3 on Monday and not starting W3 until this morning. But I'm still going so that's good Smile

PetraDelphiki · 30/09/2018 16:44

W8r2 today felt really hard for some reason :-( ho hum! At least I finished!

CanIKondo · 01/10/2018 12:29

W6R3 this morning. First run where it felt really cold and then it started raining and wished I had my hat and gloves! Proud to have managed 25 minutes.
Well done to all the runners! Keep going! Smile

BigFatBloomers · 01/10/2018 15:42

Hi
Can I join you all? I did W1R1 this morning for the first time and I'm happy to say it wasn't as bad as I'd feared. I'm overweight and very unfit but I walk the dog everyday so I guess that must have given me a basic level of fitness.

I'm doing it as part of a group but need to make sure I keep my motivation up for the inbetween sessions.

WhenCanISleepAgain · 01/10/2018 20:19

That’s great BigFatBloomers! I just did W1R2 this morning. I was surprised at how manageable it feels for far but then hard to believe I’ll be running 30 mins in just a matter of weeks!

BigFatBloomers · 02/10/2018 10:43

Thanks WCISA Glad to not be too achy this morning.
I know what you mean about the thought of being able thato run for 30mins.
Determined to get out early tomorrow for my next run. Sounds like you’ll always be one ahead of me.

eatyourveg · 02/10/2018 10:52

W7r1 and I didn't manage it Sad Had forgotten to save w6r3 and did it twice last week so thought 25 minutes non stop should be doable but by the time Laura told me I was 12.5 mins in I was really flagging so as my distance tracker said 2km I decided to walk the next km and then started running again at 3km until my usual route ended when I got to 4.4km. Total running 3.4km which is about normal based on w6 runs. Got a 5k walk/run in a fortnight i think I might end up doing 2km run then walk 1km then run the last 2 so at least I finish by running. Will try again Thursday and hopefully make the 25 mins non stop.

Well done Bloomers onwards and upwards! Smile

PetraDelphiki · 02/10/2018 12:11

W8r3 30 mins jog I DID IT....can I die now?????

Now to build it up to 5 k instead of 3...slowly slowly...

WhenCanISleepAgain · 02/10/2018 16:55

You must feel amazing to have completed that @petradelphiki. Can’t wait to get to where you are ... in just eight weeks!

PetraDelphiki · 02/10/2018 17:15

Mostly sore!!! Now just have to keep it up...I just keep remembering I have never run more than 5 minutes in my life!!!

sleepymouse · 03/10/2018 05:18

Hi, hoping I can join this thread.

I finished W2R2 yesterday, found it quite challenging at the start, especially as I head uphill early in the run from my place. By the end of the session I felt much more comfortable and could have kept running.
Before children and then cancer treatment I used to run for fun several times a week, but I've become so unfit! I'm hoping by following the program I'll get some of that fitness back. It's so inspiring to read about people getting through the program!

WhenCanISleepAgain · 05/10/2018 09:52

Hi @sleepymouse, I ran W2R1 today so am a bit behind you. Hope your other runs this week have gone well.

sleepymouse · 05/10/2018 22:34

Hi @whencanisleepagain, hope your running is going well. I finished w3r1 this morning and feel quite pumped that I managed. Before starting c25k I thought that I would hate having to get up early on weekend but it was great being out at 6am on a Saturday! I still can't imagine running for 30 min nonstop but I'm putting faith in the program, the app keeps me motivated.

FATEdestiny · 06/10/2018 19:54

How were your 25 minute runs @eatyourveg and @CanIKondo

Great to see all the new runners joining! Good luck everyone!

5SecondsFromWilding · 08/10/2018 10:52

Completed my first run this morning, w1r1. Didn't die, though I don't see it getting easier right now. I'd be amazed if I could be running for more than a couple of minutes at a time in the next few weeks.

FATEdestiny · 08/10/2018 11:57

You absolutely will though 5SecondsFromWilding, it's a great program and will teach anyone to be able to run non-stop for 30 minutes.

Well done for starting, it's the biggest step. My biggest advise at every point during C25K is to slow down. If in doubt, run slower.

ragmayo · 08/10/2018 12:07

Second attempt at c25k after injury. Stuck on week 2. Had a 10 day break in wk2, so continued from then as don't want to start again. Have done 4 wk2 runs and I'm struggling. Have a chest cold and asthma, keep running too fast so lungs burning and wheezy when I finish. Thinking I won't move to wk3 until chest better but am so disappointed in myself!

eatyourveg · 08/10/2018 17:36

I'm struggling too and stopped on sunday as I was wheezing. The jump over the last couple of weeks has been huge and I have found myself just using my distance tracker run 2 km walk 1km and run 2km which means I am only running for 2 lots of 12.5 minutes. Need to go back and do w6 again really to get back on track

Well done 5seconds on getting the first run under your belt. It does get easier (until about w6r3 then its suddenly torture) Grin
